Pakistan’s most expensive AWACS aircraft shot down inside Punjab province by Indian Defence Forces
Indian Defence Forces have shot down one of Pakistan’s most expensive and advanced AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System) aircraft in the Punjab airspace, according to high-level sources.
The Pakistani AWACS, valued at approximately $70 million USD (₹5,845 crore INR), reportedly attempted to conduct deep surveillance operations along the Indo-Pak border and was flying close to sensitive Indian installations. Upon detecting the intrusion, India’s integrated air defence system, including radar and missile systems, tracked the aircraft and engaged it swiftly.
The successful strike marks a significant escalation and demonstrates India’s readiness to counter any airspace violation. The AWACS platform plays a critical role in early warning, battlefield management, and controlling fighter aircraft operations. Its destruction is seen as a major strategic loss for Pakistan’s air force capability.
The incident comes amid rising tensions after India earlier shot down one Pakistani F-16 and two JF-17 Thunder jets over Jammu and Rajasthan regions. Indian forces across all border states remain on high alert, and air defence systems continue to scan for further threats.
