Sikkim Participates in Review Meeting for the 39th National Games 2027 in Shillong

Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, presided over a review meeting in Shillong on Saturday to evaluate the preparations for the 39th National Games 2027.

The meeting was also graced by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, Smt. Raksha Khadse
Minister of State in the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of India, Meghalaya Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Wailadmiki Shylla, Indian Olympic Association President P. T. Usha, senior officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, and representatives from the North Eastern states.

In light of the increased participation from various states in hosting the games, the Union Minister emphasized that the National Games should prioritize talent identification and scouting.

"The National Games should also serve as a platform for raising awareness about Doping. Athletes must be informed about the ill effects of Doping," he remarked. Dr. Mandaviya also suggested that volunteers from MY Bharat be involved during the National Games in Meghalaya.

During the meeting, stakeholders assessed the progress of infrastructure development, venue readiness, coordination mechanisms, and other preparatory measures related to the forthcoming National Games 2027.

Dr. R. B. Biswakarma, Director of SYA, along with the President of the Sikkim Olympic Association, Shri Chewang Zangpo Bhutia, and General Secretary, Shri Jaslal Pradhan, an Olympian and Arjuna Awardee in Boxing, represented the State Government at the meeting.

थुप्तेन छोखोरलिङ गुम्बामा भव्य रूपमा मनाइयो सागा दावा दुछेन

गान्तोक, जेठ १८ — बौद्ध धर्मावलम्बीहरूको महान् तथा पवित्र पर्व सागा दावा दुछेन थुप्तेन छोखोरलिङ गुम्बामा श्रद्धा, भक्ति र धार्मिक उत्साहका साथ भव्य रूपमा मनाइएको छ। कार्यक्रममा सयौं श्रद्धालु, भिक्षु–भिक्षुणी, स्थानीयवासी तथा विभिन्न क्षेत्रका विशिष्ट व्यक्तिहरूको उल्लेखनीय सहभागिता रहेको थियो।

भगवान बुद्धको जन्म, बुद्धत्व प्राप्ति तथा महापरिनिर्वाणको स्मरणमा मनाइने यस पावन अवसरमा विशेष पूजा, प्रार्थना, दीप प्रज्वलन, धर्मदेशना तथा पुण्य कार्यहरू सम्पन्न गरिएका थिए। दिनभरि सञ्चालन भएका धार्मिक कार्यक्रमहरूमा सहभागीहरूले शान्ति, करुणा र मानव कल्याणको कामना गर्दै प्रार्थना गरेका थिए।

गुम्बाका धर्मगुरुहरूले बुद्धका उपदेशहरूलाई दैनिक जीवनमा आत्मसात् गर्नुपर्ने आवश्यकता औँल्याउँदै प्रेम, सहिष्णुता, अहिंसा र करुणाको मार्ग अनुसरण गर्न आग्रह गरेका थिए।

कार्यक्रममा उपस्थित अतिथिहरूले सागा दावा दुछेनजस्ता धार्मिक पर्वहरूले समाजमा सद्भाव, एकता र आध्यात्मिक चेतना अभिवृद्धि गर्न महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका खेल्ने बताएका थिए। साथै, थुप्तेन छोखोरलिङ गुम्बाले बौद्ध धर्म, संस्कृति र परम्पराको संरक्षण तथा प्रवर्द्धनमा पुर्‍याउँदै आएको योगदानको प्रशंसा गरेका थिए।

कार्यक्रम सफल बनाउन सहयोग पुर्‍याउने सम्पूर्ण श्रद्धालु, स्वयंसेवक तथा सहयोगीहरूप्रति आयोजक समितिले आभार व्यक्त गरेको छ। विश्व शान्ति, सुख, समृद्धि तथा सम्पूर्ण प्राणीहरूको कल्याणको कामनासहित विशेष प्रार्थना गरी कार्यक्रम सम्पन्न भएको थियो।

United Iron Lifters–Sikkim Celebrates Outstanding Medal Haul at State Championship

Gangtok, Sikkim:

United Iron Lifters–Sikkim organized a grand get-together cm medal winning celebration this evening at a resort near Gangtok to honour the remarkable achievements of its athletes, coaches, and team officials who brought laurels to Sikkim through their outstanding performances at the 8th Sikkim State Strengthlifting and Inclined Bench Press Championship 2026 held at Mangan Nagar Panchayat Bhawan, North Sikkim.

The press was briefed by Shri Lakpa Pinasa Sherpa, Chief Coach-cum-Team Manager of United Iron Lifters–Sikkim, who highlighted the dedication, discipline, and rigorous preparation undertaken by the athletes before the championship. He congratulated all medal winners and appreciated the efforts of coaches, supporters, and organizers for making the event successful.

The athletes of United Iron Lifters–Sikkim secured an impressive total of 11 medals, comprising:
• 6 Gold Medals
• 2 Silver Medals
• 3 Bronze Medals

टिस्टा चरण–IV परियोजनामा ठेकेदार कर्मचारीको चिन्ता, ३२ कामदार बेरोजगार हुने जोखिम

NHPC Limited अन्तर्गत Teesta Stage IV Hydroelectric Project मा कार्यरत ठेकेदार कर्मचारीहरूले सम्झौता अवधि नथपिने निर्णयपछि गम्भीर चिन्ता व्यक्त गरेका छन्। यस निर्णयका कारण करिब ३२ जना कामदार बेरोजगार हुने सम्भावना देखिएको छ।

Kamakhya Enterprise तथा NHPC द्वारा जारी आधिकारिक सूचनाअनुसार सामडोङस्थित फिल्ड होस्टेल र मंगनस्थित प्रशासनिक कार्यालयको मर्मतसम्भारसँग सम्बन्धित सम्झौताहरू क्रमशः मे ३० र जुलाई ३१, २०२६ मा समाप्त हुनेछन्। दुवै सम्झौता थप नगर्ने जानकारी दिएपछि कर्मचारीहरू अन्योलमा परेका छन्।

कामदारहरूले परियोजनामा लामो समयदेखि सेवा दिँदै आएको उल्लेख गर्दै रोजगार सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित गर्न राज्य सरकार र सम्बन्धित निकायसँग हस्तक्षेपको माग गरेका छन्। उनीहरूले वैकल्पिक व्यवस्था वा सम्झौता नवीकरण नगरे धेरै परिवार प्रत्यक्ष प्रभावित हुने बताएका छन्।

कर्मचारी पक्षले व्यवस्थापनसँग पुनः छलफल गरी समाधान खोज्न आग्रह गरेको छ भने सम्बन्धित अधिकारीहरूले विषयमा आन्तरिक समीक्षा भइरहेको बताएका छन्।
