Inspection of Okhrey Gumpa Construction and Visit to Alley Dara and Gaythang Khola

The Hon’ble Speaker of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly and Area MLA of Daramdin Constituency, M. N. Sherpa, visited Okhrey Gumpa to review the proposed construction and development plans of the sacred site. During the visit, discussions were held regarding the construction of various structures and the placement of religious elements within the premises to enhance the spiritual and cultural significance of the gumpa.

Following the inspection, the Speaker also visited Alley Dara and Gaythang Khola to assess the condition of the area and explore possibilities for its development and promotion. Gaythang Khola had previously suffered severe damage due to a landslide which had nearly destroyed the site. As part of efforts to revive and promote the place, a statue of Lord Hanuman was recently installed there under the initiative of the Hon’ble Speaker.

BJP Sikkim Demands Accountability over Media Obstruction at STNM Hospital; Management Promises Written Clarification

GANGTOK, SIKKIM — Following a distressing incident involving the forceful obstruction of media personnel at STNM Hospital, Sochaygang, a delegation led by Sangay Gyatso Bhutia Spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and accompanied by Sangay Pulger State Secretary of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) formally met with the Medical Superintendent and the management team today to demand transparency and uphold the constitutional right to freedom of expression.
The intervention follows reports of a journalist being prevented by police from documenting the ongoing water crisis at the hospital, a matter of urgent public concern. During the encounter, the police officer cited direct orders from the Medical Superintendent as the basis for the intervention.
Key Concerns Raised by the BJP Delegation:
• The Misuse of Authority: The party questioned whether specific directives were issued to the police to suppress reporting on utility deficiencies.
• Public Interest vs. Privacy: While the BJP respects patient confidentiality within clinical wards, the party maintains that reporting on a utility crisis in public areas is a matter of public right and should not be censored.
• Authorization of Force: The delegation sought to clarify if the police were acting under a formal written request from the administration or if administrative authority was being used as a shield for unauthorized censorship.
During a thorough discussion, the BJP team strongly advocated for the Freedom of Speech and Expression as enshrined under Article 19 of the Indian Constitution. In response, the Medical Superintendent and the hospital management team reiterated their department's stand on media presence within the premises.
The BJP delegation has officially requested a written clarification regarding the hospital’s policy on media access and the specific instructions given to security personnel. The STNM management has committed to providing this formal written clarification within few days.
The Bharatiya Janata Party stands firmly with our journalist friends and media houses. Silence and censorship are not solutions to administrative challenges. The BJP believes in press freedom and would not tolerate such incidents against the right of Press and Media. We also commend the courageous mediapersons for boldly highlighting public concerns and ensuring accountability.

तिब्बती बौद्ध समुदायबाट आएको रिपोर्ट अनुसार ५औँ दोद्रुपछेन रिन्पोछे को पुनर्जन्म भएको बताइएको छ, जसले विश्वभरका अनुयायीहरूमा खुशी र नयाँ आध्यात्मिक आशा जगाएको छ।

नयाँ अवतारलाई ५औँ दोद्रुपछेन रिन्पोछे मानिएको छ, जसले भित्रको प्रतिष्ठित दोद्रुपछेन वंशलाई निरन्तरता दिने विश्वास गरिएको छ। यो वंश गहिरो र शिक्षासँग नजिकबाट सम्बन्धित छ।

आदरणीय गुरु को सन् २०२२ मा मा ९७ वर्षको उमेरमा निधन भएको थियो। उहाँको निधनपछि विभिन्न गुम्बा तथा भक्तजनहरूले उहाँको शीघ्र पुनर्जन्मका लागि प्रार्थना गरेका थिए।

The Denzong Sherpa Association (DSA) extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who gathered in large numbers today to warmly welcome and congratulate Ms. Anniela Sherpa on her remarkable success in the Union Public Service Commission Examination 2026. The overwhelming presence and encouragement made the reception truly memorable and inspiring.

DSA conveys its sincere appreciation to Shri M. N. Sherpa, Hon’ble Speaker, Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Shri Sangay Sherpa, President, Denzong Sherpa Association, Shri Sonam Chopel Sherpa, Chairperson, Shri M. T. Sherpa, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, along with other government officials, OSDs, representatives of various associations, students, members of civil society, and friends from the media for their gracious presence and support.

Special thanks are extended to the Rangpo Nagar Panchayat, led by Shri Sanjeev Khati, for their invaluable support in successfully organizing the programme.

‘Connect to CM’ Initiative Brings Government Closer to People in Ravangla

Ravangla, 10 March. A Video Conference under the newly launched initiative “Connect to CM”, designed to provide a direct platform for people at the grassroots level to interact with the Hon’ble Chief Minister and share their concerns and suggestions, was held today at the BAC Ravangla.

The programme was attended by Hon’ble MLA of Barfung Constituency Riksal Dorjee Bhutia, Additional Political Secretary to the Chief Minister Bishnu Sharma, OSD to the MLA Shiva Kumar Rai, OSD Building & Housing Yenten Dorjee Bhutia, BDO Ravangla B.B. Tamang, CLC President Narayan Gopal Gurung, and CLC Vice President Rangang Yangang Karma Tshering Bhutia, along with officials and staff of BAC Ravangla and beneficiaries.
