We recently conducted a visit to the Sopakha GPU in the Geyzing District to assess the connectivity situation for the residents of Sopakha and nearby villages near the Indo-Nepal border. Regrettably, the connectivity issues that arose in 2023 remain unresolved. The critical bridge that would link the Sopakha GPU to the rest of the state has yet to be constructed. With the approaching monsoon season, there is a genuine concern that the people of the GPU, along with the Chewabhanjyang Border area, will find themselves completely cut off from the state and the nation.

Free Health Camp Organized at Archery Range, Kartok by Pakyong District Archery AssociationPakyong, April 18, 2025:

A free health camp was successfully organized today at the Archery Range in Kartok, Pakyong District, by the Pakyong District Archery Association in collaboration with the District Administrative Centre, Pakyong.

The camp was conducted under the supervision of the Pakyong PHC (Primary Health Centre), offering free medical check-ups to the public.Hon’ble Chairman of SIMFED, Shri Tenzing Dorjee Bhutia, also attended the camp and availed the health check-up services. He appreciated the efforts of the organizers and thanked the Association for their thoughtful and compassionate initiative toward public health and well-being.

He also encouraged the general public to take advantage of such free medical services for their health awareness and preventive care.The camp witnessed participation from various community members and was lauded for promoting health consciousness in the district.

State Taekwondo Championship 2025 Concludes at Paljor Stadium

The 24th State Kyorugi & 14th State Poomsae Taekwondo Championship and Open Championship 2025, organized by the Sikkim Amateur Taekwondo Association (SATA), concluded today at the Indoor Hall, Paljor Stadium, Gangtok. The event took place from March 8 to 10.

Education Minister Raju Basnet attended as the chief guest, alongside guest of honour Smt Krishna Kumari Rai, spouse of CM Prem Singh Tamang-Golay. A total of 30 clubs from all six districts participated across various age categories. Medals were distributed to all participants.

Chief Minister of Sikkim attended India Today Conclave 2025.

Delighted to attend the India Today Conclave 2025, where I had the privilege of joining Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Kiren Rijiju Ji in a thought-provoking discussion on the Northeast’s expanding role in India’s development. The session, aptly titled “The Sun Rises in the Northeast,” was moderated by the esteemed journalist Mr. Rajdeep Sardesai Ji and focused on the region’s growing influence, potential, and its crucial contribution to shaping the nation’s future.

During the discussion, I had the opportunity to present Sikkim’s perspective on key issues that are vital to our state. I emphasized the importance of ensuring that Sikkim’s voice is heard on a national platform and highlighted some of our state’s pioneering initiatives, including “Mero Rukh Mero Santiti,” a program dedicated to environmental conservation and sustainability. Additionally, I spoke about our developmental projects that focus on improving healthcare, education and tourism, all of which are instrumental in driving Sikkim’s progress and enhancing the quality of life for our people.

Speaking about connectivity, I shared how Sikkim will soon be connected by a rail network. I express my gratitude to Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji for bringing the upkeep of NH10 under NHIDCL, which will ensure smooth connectivity. Additionally, an alternate route is also being worked out.

It was a great honor to share the stage with Shri Kiren Rijiju Ji, who spoke highly of Sikkim’s remarkable growth trajectory. His recognition of Sikkim as a model state in the Northeast is truly encouraging and serves as a testament to the collective efforts of our government and people in driving sustainable and inclusive development.

I extend my sincere gratitude to the India Today Group for inviting me to this prestigious event and for providing a platform to showcase the progress and initiatives of Sikkim. Their efforts in bringing national attention to the Northeast’s development are commendable, and I wish them continued success in their future endeavors.
