Under the guidance of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), the SKM Social Service Wing distributed 12 wheelchairs, walkers, and walking sticks to patients in need at the Physiotherapy Ward of STNM Hospital. The beneficiaries included persons with disabilities, paralysed patients, and others requiring mobility assistance.

The initiative was led by District President Shri Naresh Tamang, with the support of District Coordinator Shri Parlad Thapa, Office Coordinator Shri Palzor Bhutia, Volunteer Shri Tek Man Gurung (Ward Convener, Ward No. 23, Syari), and Nari Shakti General Secretary Smt. Doma Bhutia.

Under the direction and guidance of Hon'ble HCM Sir, a team from the SKM Social Service Wing comprising Shri Naresh Tamang (District President) and Shri Palzor Bhutia (Office Coordinator) visited the residence of Shri Gauri Pradhan at Bhansari Gaon, Nazitam-Rabdang GPU, under Martam-Rumtek Constituency.
During the visit, the team handed over a wheelchair to Shri Gauri Pradhan to assist him with mobility and provide greater convenience during his ongoing medical treatment.
Shri Gauri Pradhan has been diagnosed with Renal Osteodystrophy-related disability and is currently undergoing regular dialysis treatment. The wheelchair support is expected to ease his daily movement and improve his quality of life.

International Yoga Day 2026 was celebrated with great enthusiasm and community participation under the joint initiative of SKM Social Service Wings and the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRC-Sikkim). The programme was attended by the Hon’ble Area MLA of 23-Syari, along with the CLC President and team, members of SKM Nari Shakti and Youth Wing, students and staff of Rewa Special School for Children with Disabilities, Syari, and representatives of the Sadvawana Syari Taxi Drivers Association. The event highlighted the importance of yoga in promoting physical health, mental well-being, and social harmony, while fostering a spirit of inclusivity and collective responsibility. Through active participation and shared commitment, the gathering reflected the true essence of Yoga for Harmony and Peace 🙏🏻✨

Recent Initiatives by the Social Service Wing

The Social Service Wing continues to extend support to those in need through various welfare initiatives across the constituency.

Today , Hon’ble Councillor Madam Chunkela Lepcha of Chandmari , along with Social Service Wing Coordinator (East District) Naresh Tamang and volunteer Tekman Gurung from 23 Syari Constituency assisted two physically challenged individual in applying for disability certificates. Upon completion of the certification process, the beneficiaries will be eligible to receive necessary support.

In another significant initiative, the Social Service Wing facilitated the provision of a wheelchair to a senior citizen from the Tadong Constituency. The wheelchair was handed over in the presence of, and through the support of, the CLC President of the area, ensuring improved mobility and comfort for the beneficiary.

These efforts reflect the Social Service Wing’s continued commitment towards supporting vulnerable sections of society and ensuring that essential services and assistance reach those who need them most.

Under the direction of HCM Sir, the SKM Social Service Team, led by District President Shri Naresh Tamang, State-Level Coordinator for Blood Management Shri Krishan Chettri, and Office Coordinator Shri Palzor Bhutia, visited the residence of Smt. Lhamu Tamang from Burtuk Constituency and provided a wheelchair for her specially-abled child, Bidhan Manger.

Moments like these truly remind us how meaningful it is to see happiness and relief reach every home, especially families who genuinely need support and care. For many, such assistance becomes more than just help — it becomes a blessing and a source of hope. It is heartening to witness these efforts reaching those in need and bringing comfort, dignity, and smiles to their lives.

During the visit, the team also assured the family of continued support and assistance in the future 🙏🏻✨

Beyond assistance and support, true social strength also comes from understanding and communication.

Under the guidance of Hon’ble Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, a meaningful sign language awareness and orientation program was conducted today for the students of Lower Syari Secondary School by Social Service Wing District President Naresh Tamamg .

The initiative aimed to create awareness and encourage inclusive communication, so that every individual in society, whether within families, schools, or communities, feels seen, understood, and connected. Small efforts like these help build a more compassionate and coordinated society for the future.

Among the many welfare activities and assistance initiatives continuously carried out by the Social Service Wing, here is a glimpse of some of this week’s outreach and support efforts.

Under the guidance and direction of our Hon’ble HCM Sir, the SKM Social Service Wing team visited the residences of individuals undergoing medical treatment and extended financial assistance as part of its ongoing welfare and support initiative.

Assistance was provided to:• Ms. Pranisha Chettri, daughter of Mrs. Dirga Maya Chettri, from Pakyong District.• Mr. Jeewan Rasaily from the Martam-Rumtek Constituency.

During the visit, the team also met Mrs. Newtriza Rai from Singtam-Khamdong. Due to severe health complications, she lost one of her legs, making everyday activities and livelihood extremely challenging. As directed by Hon’ble HCM Sir, assurance was given that support for an artificial leg would be provided, which will greatly improve her mobility and quality of life.

The compassionate leadership and humanitarian vision of Hon’ble HCM Sir continue to bring hope, relief, and support to families across the state.
