Anti-Drug Mission
"Mobilize Community Against Drugs – Save Future, Save Sikkim"

Under the pilot project of S.Y.W.A (Sikkim Youth Welfare Association), we successfully conducted our 10th rehabilitation visit at the Samaritam Rehabilitation Centre, Pakyong district

During the visit, we held one-to-one interactions with abusers to understand the root causes of their addiction. We also conducted mapping of drug hotspots and trafficking routes, and identified vulnerable places, wards, and localities that require urgent community attention and preventive measures.

We sincerely appeal to every citizen of our state to join hands in this mission to protect our youth, our future, and our Sikkim.

Objectives of the Mission:

To prevent drug abuse.

To reduce drug trafficking.

To support recovery through community-based intervention, youth engagement, and inter-departmental collaboration.

To motivate abusers to participate in efforts to stop drug trafficking within our communities.

Event: Coordination Meeting at STNM Hospital on October 29, 2025

A coordination meeting was held under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Health Minister Shri G.T. Dhungel, in the presence of Shri Tshewang Gyaccho, IAS, Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department. Other attendees included the Principal Directors, Medical Superintendent (MS) STNM, Director (Adm), STNM, AMS-II, Heads of Departments (HODs), Specialists, Nursing Superintendents, Engineers, and other officials.
The Secretary highlighted key issues concerning patient referrals outside the state, operational challenges, and the need for better utilization of existing health facilities.
Key Directives:
• Increase ultrasound examinations; scan non-emergency IPD patients in the afternoon.
• Minimize out-of-state referrals; clearly mention patient preference in referral forms.
• Organize medical camps only with prior government approval.
• Report non-functional equipment immediately to the concerned authorities.
• All gynaecologists to utilize the available USG machines.
• Ensure proper guidance to patients in the Emergency Ward and timely referrals to specialists.
• Dental OPD to function in two shifts on working days and from 9 am to 3 pm on holidays.
• Keep the sample collection room open on holidays.
• Avoid outsourcing tests that can be performed at STNM.
• Maintain strict duty hours (9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) and conduct regular departmental rounds.
• Prescription of generic medicines and avoid unnecessary changes in prescriptions.
• Consider increasing OT days and introducing evening shifts to reduce patient load.
• Ensure technician presence at their respective workstations during working hours
• Proper use of HMIS software.
• Restrict mobile phone usage during duty hours and maintain discipline among support staff.
• Regulate vehicle movement within the hospital premises through a “touch and go” system.
• Give preference to in-state referrals;
• Minimize leave and avoid private practice during duty hours.

Transport Department Reduces First Offence Traffic Fines and Extends Grace Period; AI-Based e-Challan System to Resume Across Sikkim from November 1, 2025


The Transport Department, Government of Sikkim, has reduced first offence traffic fines and extended the grace period between two automatic e-challans from 15 to 60 days for offences like pollution or permit violations.

The AI-based Traffic Management and e-Challan System will resume across all districts from November 1, 2025. Vehicle owners are urged to update their documents and phone numbers in the Vahan Portal to avoid automatic e-challans.

Awareness Programme on PM Vishwakarma Scheme Ensures Essential Support to Traditional Artisans and Craftspeople of Gyalshing District

​Gyalshing, October 28 (IPR): A day-long awareness programme on the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, organised by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME)-Development and Facilitation Office, Gangtok, under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, in association with the office of the District Collector, Gyalshing, was held here today at the Assembly Hall of Gyalshing District Zilla Panchayat.

​The programme efficiently motivated budding entrepreneurs from various sectors to avail of the extended opportunity provided by the Government of India under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme. It is pertinent to mention here that the scheme holds a prominent correspondence with the aspiration of the State Government's tireless efforts and undertaken initiatives.

​The District Collector, Gyalshing, Mr Tenzing D Denzongpa graced the event as Chief guest and expressed gratitude to the Commerce and Industries Department, Gyalshing, and MSME Gangtok officials for conducting the awareness programme on the PM Vishwakarma Scheme in the district, which efficiently aligns with the vision of the Chief Minister of Sikkim, 'One Family, One Entrepreneur'.

​DC Gyalshing in his address, underlined the significant role of panchayats, imperative for saturated implementation of the scheme in the district. He even advised eligible beneficiaries to avail themselves of the extended opportunity and be exemplary for aspirants of the highly lucrative venture of digital marketing. Mr Denzongpa suggested attendees to take due advantage of the technological advancements and broaden their entrepreneurial venture by honing the requisite skills. He anticipated witnessing a surge of success stories in the field from the district and assured his unconditional support to the aspirants.

​Mr Denzongpa even advised Lead Banks functioning under the district to assist the applicants on matters related to loans and duly refrain from creating unnecessary difficulties while availing them. He advised attendees to take proper heed of the information shared in the programme and disseminate it at the GPU level for effective and grassroots implementation of the beneficial approach of the PM-Vishwakarma scheme in the district.

​Assistant Professor, Sikkim University, Mr PK Das, also the Resource Person of the day, extensively deliberated on the subsidiary topics of Digital Marketing that included Online Selling, Finding Market Trends and Building Digital Literacy, Branding and Packaging, Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), Government e-Marketplace (GeM), a video presentation on the step-by-step procedure for availing the benefits of the scheme, and success stories.

​Deputy Superintendent, Department of Post, Sikkim State Postal Region, Mr Monojit Chandra, apprised about the features of Speed Post, Parcel Post, Domestic and International Post, pricing details of availing the service, tracking facility, transit time, transport network, special measures of India Post, Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra, and the crucial function of the Single Point of Contact (SPOC). Team Lead, SL-PMU PM Vishwakarma Scheme, Commerce and Industries Department (C&ID), Mr Joydeep Chakravorty, briefly highlighted the stage-wise training session facilitated at the ITI Gyalshing under the scheme.

Assistant Director, MSME-DFO Gangtok, Mr Nirmal Chowdhury, earlier in his welcome address, provided updates on the implementation of the scheme. He informed that in the first phase, more than 30 lakh registrations were recorded nationwide, under which artisans benefited through the distribution of modern toolkits, issuance of unique artisan identity cards, and provision of collateral-free concessional loans at 5% interest.

Mr Chowdhary also highlighted the key digital marketing platforms, namely, Open Network for Digital Marketing (ONDC), Government e-Marketplace, Laghu Udyog Portal, and e-commerce platforms like Amazon.in, Flipkart.com, Meesho.com, and social media platforms, which he believes have the potential to introduce Sikkim's local products like Dalley Khorsani (Cherry Pepper) and Traditional Handicrafts to global markets.

The primary objective of the programme was to empower and support traditional artisans and craftspeople of the district with essential knowledge, requisite training and ensure seamless access to government schemes aimed at the enhancement of market integration and business development.

The day long event also had the presence of the Panchayat representatives, Inspector District Industries Centre Gyalshing, entrepreneurs, and artisans of Gyalshing district.

OSD to Rural Development Department Visits Dzongu, Reviews Ongoing Schemes

Mangan, Oct 28 (IPR): OSD, Rural Development Department, Mr Krishna Lepcha made a visit to Dzongu today to take stock of ongoing rural development schemes in the region.

During his visit, Mr Lepcha met BDO Passingdang Dr Mahendra Tamang, who briefed him about the status of schemes like MGNREGA, PMGSY, JJM, and Swachh Bharat Mission, being implemented in collaboration with line departments. He was also informed about beneficiaries of state government schemes, including Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana, Sikkim Ama Sahayog Yojana, House Upgradation, among other schemes.

OSD, Mr Krishna Lepcha lauded the BDO and the staff of BAC Passingdang for the efficient implementation of all the central government and state government schemes thereby uplifting the lives and livelihoods of the people at the grassroot level. The OSD further commended the entire team at BAC Passingdang for their people-centric approach.

Free Entry Announced for India vs Nepal Women’s International Football Friendly at Paljor Stadium


As part of the Sikkim’s 50 Years of Statehood Celebrations, the Sikkim Football Association (SFA) has announced free entry for all spectators to the upcoming Senior Women’s International Football Friendly Match between India and Nepal.

The match will be held at Paljor Stadium, Gangtok, on October 29, 2025, with the kick-off scheduled for 4:30 PM.

SFA Working President Chung Chunh Bhutia confirmed the update in the ticketing system and invited the public to witness the thrilling women’s football encounter without any entry fee.

कार्यक्रमको सञ्चालन अन्जु शर्माले गर्नुभएको थियो। कार्यक्रममा रिमा चापागाईं, अल्बर्ट गुरुङ, पबिनहाङ सुब्बा, महेश राई, ओङ्डिला भुटिया, भूषण अधिकारी लगायतका नेताहरूले सम्बोधन गर्नुभएको थियो।
