24 Martam–Rumtek: The Tendong Lho Rum Faat Festival, a traditional Lepcha festival honouring survival, gratitude and the sacred Mount Tendong, is being celebrated today at Rey Mindu Junior High School in the 24 Martam–Rumtek Constituency.

The festival features traditional cultural performances and community participation, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the Lepcha community.

Area MLA Sonam Tshering Venchungpa attended the celebration as the Chief Guest.

The festival is being organised by Rey Mindu Tumprong Berbing Hudhang Kyong Tarzum, with the celebration highlighting the cultural identity, traditions and heritage of the Lepcha community.

SSSS Conducts General Meeting for Appointment of New Office Bearers


Gangtok, August 7: Sikkim Sarathi Suraksha Sangathan (SSSS) conducted its general meeting at SC Bhawan, Gangtok, with a focus on strengthening the organisation and promoting the welfare of drivers across the state.

The meeting was attended by CJAC President Karma Tshering Tamang as the Chief Guest, while CJAC General Secretary Gopal Pradhan attended as the Guest of Honour.

During the meeting, the newly appointed office bearers of the Sangathan formally assumed their respective responsibilities. Arjun Khawas was appointed as the President, Bimal Chettri as the Vice President, Nanda Lal Sharma as the General Secretary, Shanti Ram Chettri as the Treasurer, Phirmesh (Sangay) Rai as the Chief Advisor, and Tenzing Sherpa as the Advisor.

The meeting primarily focused on the welfare of drivers and the Sangathan's commitment to contributing towards the welfare and development of the state. Discussions also highlighted the need for unity among members and collective efforts to address issues concerning the driver community.

Addressing the gathering, CJAC President Karma Tshering Tamang congratulated the newly appointed office bearers and extended his best wishes for a successful tenure. He urged the members to work together in unity for the welfare of drivers and the betterment of the state. He also expressed confidence that the Sangathan would continue to grow stronger and play a constructive role in serving the interests of the driver community.
