Press Club of Sikkim honours distinguished journalists on its 23rd Foundation Day
GANGTOK, July 17:
The Press Club of Sikkim (PCS) marked its 23rd Foundation Day with a grand felicitation ceremony at Chintan Bhawan, Gangtok, honouring individuals who have made significant contributions to journalism, media, and literature in the State.
The highlight of the event was the conferring of the Kanchendzonga Kalam Puraskar 2025, the highest award of the PCS, on Karma Samten Paljor, a senior journalist and co-founder of EastMojo. Hailing from Rabong in South Sikkim, Paljor began his career at The Times of India and went on to work with CNBC TV18 and CNN News18 before launching India’s first digital news platform dedicated to the Northeast.
Receiving the award, Paljor remarked, “This is a proud moment for me and my family. While I have received national awards, being honoured in my home state feels very personal and special. Thank you to the Press Club of Sikkim for this recognition.” He further reflected, “The world needs more honesty, more ethics in journalism, more commitment to truth and public service. We are nothing without the trust of the people.”
The Lagansheel Yuva Patrakarita Puraskar 2025 was presented to Pema Wangchen Lama, a photojournalist from Sikkim, in recognition of his impactful and socially resonant visual storytelling.
