Today's Modi Ji’s Visit to Sikkim Cancelled Due to Weather – But the Opposition’s Celebration Speaks Volumes

It is truly unfortunate that Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji's much-awaited visit to our beautiful state of Sikkim had to be cancelled due to sudden adverse weather conditions and standard security protocols.We were all looking forward to welcoming the tallest leader to our land, and preparations were in full swing to give him a historic and heartfelt reception.

But what’s even more disappointing—and frankly, shameful—is the reaction from the opposition. Instead of expressing concern or empathy over the weather-related cancellation, they seem to be celebrating it as a political victory. Their joy at the cancellation exposes their narrow-mindedness and lack of concern for Sikkim’s dignity on the national stage. This is not just a blow to the PM’s visit—it is a moment that required unity, but unfortunately, the opposition chose to gloat instead.

In contrast, we must wholeheartedly commend HCM Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) Sir and the SKM Government for their unparalleled efforts and dedication in preparing for the Prime Minister’s visit. From infrastructure beautification to logistical arrangements, from public mobilization to ensuring security and hospitality—every aspect was handled with precision and passion. The ruling government once again proved why it enjoys the trust and admiration of the people.

This was not just about a political event—it was about putting Sikkim on the national spotlight, about honouring our farmers, our progress, and our future. It was about development, collaboration, and celebration. And for this, the SKM Government deserves full credit.

Let the opposition play their petty politics—we the people stand with progress, stand with unity, and stand with our visionary leaders who walk the talk.

This is just a postponement and not the end.Modi Ji will surely visit us again, and when he does, Sikkim will welcome him with twice the love and pride.

Woman stabbed to death by siblings over property

Kuchinda, Orissa: A woman was fatally stabbed by her elder sister and younger brother during a family gathering in Majhipada village under Bamra block in Sambalpur district, local police said Sunday.

The incident occurred during the post-death rituals of their late uncle. The victim, identified as 40-year-old Leena Sahu, had returned to her paternal home to attend the ceremony. An argument reportedly ensued among the siblings over the division of ancestral property, which escalated and Leena was allegedly stabbed by her elder sister, Pushpanjali Sahu, 45, and younger brother, Golek Sahu, 30.

Family members present at the ceremony rushed Leena to Govindpur Medical Centre, where she was declared dead upon arrival. Govindpur police arrested the accused siblings and presented them before the Kuchinda Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate’s Court the same day.

A case (67/25) has been registered under sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Investigations are ongoing, with Govindpur Inspector-in-Charge Rajendra Behera, Kuchinda SDPO Pradeep Kumar Das, and a forensic team from Sambalpur examining the crime scene.

Sources indicate that Leena, who was married and residing in Sambalpur, had been working at a jewellery store. She was seeking her share of the family property and her demand reportedly led to tensions with her unmarried siblings, culminating in the fatal incident.

The local community remains in shock over the incident, highlighting the devastating consequences that familial disputes over property can entail.

The recent baseless and reckless allegations by the Citizen Action Party (CAP), directly blaming the SKM government for violence without a shred of evidence or waiting for an investigation, exposes their cheap hunger for political mileage. Let’s ask the obvious: **Why would the SKM government—enjoying an overwhelming majority with the people’s unwavering support—ever need to indulge in violence?** The very thought is absurd and only highlights the **depths to which these opposition groups will stoop** to mislead the public.

**Opposition’s Dirty Game: Divide Sikkim When We Should Be United**
Instead of joining hands to celebrate **Sikkim’s golden journey**, these parties—**CAP, SDF, and others**—are **deliberately fanning flames of distrust and chaos**. Their strategy is clear:

1. **Exploit Isolated Incidents**: Twist facts, ignore due process, and **blame the government first, think later**.
2. **Undermine Public Trust**: Spread fear and confusion ahead of a historic celebration.
