DZONGU'S ROADS NEED REPAIRS
For nearly 10 years around 13 villages across Rongyoung Kyoung near Mantam in Dzongu suffered due to the absence of a motorable bridge. The 2016 Mantam landslide had created an artificial lake and changed the lives of people across forever. Even though the lake went back to being a river over time, the ordeal of villagers continued – of unending transhipments in the monsoon. A brief respite came in the winter when a bailey bridge would be constructed when the river water levels were lower. Come monsoon, the transhipments would begin again.

Only this year a motorable bridge was constructed at Lingzya. The road to this bridge, however, was in very poor condition. This video footage was taken in July earlier this year.

The monsoons are finally over and hopefully travel will become a safer undertaking this winter. But the time now begins for repairs and prep for the next monsoon.
