Student Died on the spot at Bulbuley,Gangtok.

A Burtuk College student tragically died in an accident at Bulbuley, Gangtok, while riding his bike. According to sources, the bike and government vehicle collided whilst the person driving the government vehicle was a learner and was doing the same.

The driver is under police custody and an investigation is underway.

18-Year-Old Nima Rinji Sherpa Set to Become Youngest to Conquer All 14 Peaks Above 8,000 Meters

Nima Rinji Sherpa, at just 18 years old, is close to setting a new record in mountaineering. He has received the permit to climb Shishapangma, his final peak over 8,000 meters, located in China.

With 13 of the world's highest peaks already under his belt, Nima is on the verge of becoming the youngest person to achieve this accomplishment. If successful, his final summit will place him among the elite climbers who have completed the challenge of scaling all 14 peaks above 8,000 meters.

Sikkim Police Crack Down on Drug Trafficking in Singtam

On September 8, 2024, a team from the Singtam Police, acting on a tip-off, successfully intercepted a vehicle suspected of transporting illegal substances. A silver-colored ECO SPORT, bearing registration number SK 01 PA 5776, was stopped in front of the Patanjali Store near Bhanu Park, Singtam. The driver, identified as Sanjay Pradhan, alias Salman (42), son of the late Dil Bahadur Pradhan and resident of Mangan, currently residing in Bojoghari, Gangtok, Sikkim, was found in possession of a commercial quantity of controlled substances, including suspected brown sugar.

The case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Sikkim Anti-Drugs Act (SADA) and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).

A Black Panther attack in Hee-Gyathang, Dzongu, left resident Zigmee Lepcha critically injured around 12:30 pm yesterday.

The victim was swiftly referred to Sochaygang Hospital in Gangtok, where he remains in critical condition. The Range Officer of KNP Dzongu, along with the DFO, ACF, and local leaders, are providing support.

Minister Pintso Namgyal Lepcha later visited the hospital to oversee the situation and ensure the victim receives immediate medical attention and care.
