Dear Citizens of Sikkim,

On this proud occasion of our nation’s 79th Independence Day, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all the people of Sikkim. Today, we join the entire country in celebrating the spirit of freedom, the sacrifices of our freedom fighters, and the strength of our great democracy.

Independence Day is not just a reminder of our liberation from colonial rule, but also a call to uphold the values of unity, integrity, and resilience that define our nation. We remember with deep gratitude the countless men and women who laid down their lives so that we may live in a free India.

Sikkim, our beautiful and peace-loving land, has always exemplified unity in diversity. Our strength lies in the harmony among communities, our deep-rooted cultural traditions, our spiritual richness, and our collective spirit of cooperation. Over the years, we have made steady progress across many sectors from education and health, to connectivity and tourism, to environmental protection and inclusive development.

But as we celebrate our accomplishments, we must also look ahead with clarity and purpose. The world is changing rapidly, and with it come new challenges like climate change, economic shifts, and social transformations. It is our responsibility to ensure that Sikkim remains resilient, forward-looking, and inclusive.

Our government remains fully committed to building a Sikkim that is self-reliant, equitable, and prosperous where every child has access to quality education, every youth has opportunity, every farmer has dignity, and every family has a secure and sustainable future. Our focus on clean energy, organic farming, digital connectivity, skill development, and tourism will continue to drive our growth in the years ahead.

On this Independence Day, I call upon all citizens, especially our vibrant youth, to embrace innovation, serve society, and strengthen our democratic values. Let us remember that patriotism is not merely an emotion we express on August 15 it is reflected in our daily actions: in how we care for our environment, uphold honesty in our work, show kindness to others, and participate actively in building our communities.

Let us remain vigilant against divisive forces, misinformation, and anything that threatens the unity and progress of our state and nation. As proud Sikkimese and proud Indians, let us stand together with resolve, responsibility, and a shared vision.

On this momentous day, I would like to express my heartiest gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji for his exceptional leadership and vision, steering the country through significant challenges and opportunities. His focus on economic growth, digital transformation, and national security has reshaped India’s global standing. Under his leadership, India has made remarkable strides in areas such as infrastructure development, financial inclusion, and social welfare programs, benefiting millions of citizens across the nation. His commitment to fostering regional development has been especially evident in his approach to the northeast, ensuring that states like Sikkim receive the attention and resources needed for sustainable progress. His dynamic approach and forward-thinking policies continue to inspire the entire nation.

As our national flag flutters in the sky, let it remind us not only of our independence, but also of our duties. May we all move forward with a spirit of service, with pride in our heritage, and with hope in our hearts.

Let our voices echo with strength and unity.

Jai Hind!
Jai Sikkim!
