ABVP Sikkim Organizes State-Level Student Training Camp in Gangtok
Gangtok, July 21: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Sikkim-Darjeeling Prant, successfully conducted its state-level training camp, Prant Abhyas Varg, at Janta Bhawan, Gangtok. The three-day event brought together over 60 students from colleges and universities across Sikkim.
The camp aimed to instill leadership qualities, discipline, cultural values, and national consciousness among student participants. The program featured a range of sessions, including group discussions, ideological workshops, lectures, and cultural presentations — all designed to promote a sense of unity, responsibility, and civic engagement.
Addressing the students as the chief guest, Ramesh Kandel, National Organizing Secretary of Pragyaik Vidyarthi Parishad, Nepal, emphasized the role of students in nation-building. He highlighted the concept of bhakti nirman— cultivating an emotional and ethical commitment to one’s culture and duties — and called for harmony between academic growth and character development. He also spoke on environmental consciousness and sustainable living.
Other key speakers included Apaksu Sekher Sail, Regional Organizing Secretary of ABVP East Zone, who underscored student unity and organizational discipline. Chain Singh Rawat, State Organizing Secretary of ABVP Sikkim-Darjeeling, encouraged youth participation in social transformation. Prof. Bhoj Acharya, State President, stressed the importance of preserving cultural identity in a rapidly changing world. State Secretary Sameeran Karki and Gangtok District Head Dr. Pawan Kumar Ray also addressed the gathering with messages on leadership and empowerment.
A notable session was conducted by Nandan Kumar, Sikkim Vibhag Pracharak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), on the theme of Panch Parivartan (Five Transformations). He spoke on necessary shifts in personal, social, educational, national, and environmental realms, urging students to lead disciplined and purposeful lives.
The camp concluded with a collective pledge by participants to contribute sincerely to the betterment of society and the nation.
