Press Release

The joint protest in Gangtok by the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) and the Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee (SPCC), shouting “Vote Thief, Quit Power” slogans in support of Rahul Gandhi, has exposed SDF’s proved alliance with Congress despite its repeated denials. This is nothing but a desperate drama staged ahead of elections in various states to stay politically relevant by congress and its alliance. SDF by joining hands with SPCC in such laughable protests, SDF has further proven that it holds no credibility, vision or issue to place before the people of Sikkim.

The Election Commission of India has already dismissed Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of “vote theft” as baseless and clarified that no manipulation was possible in the manner alleged. If SDF and SPCC were serious, they should have raised the matter during counting not after one and a half years ? Their sudden noise only proves their opportunism.

In contrast, the NDA government under Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has delivered transformative development across India with landmark schemes like Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ayushman Bharat, and Digital India, while extending full support to Sikkim as model of sustainable growth. SKM, as a proud NDA partner, is grateful to Hon’ble Prime Minister for his vision and care towards Sikkim and Sikkimese people.

The 2024 Assembly Elections gave SKM a historic mandate , reaffirming the people’s trust in the leadership of HCM Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay). Unable to challenge on development and governance, the failed opposition now clings to baseless, laughable protests. In democracy, it is people’s mandate that counts not the nuisance of frustrated opposition forces.

The SKM Party calls upon the people of Sikkim to remain vigilant against such misleading tactics of failed opposition forces and to continue supporting the path of stability, progress, and inclusive growth under the pragmatic leadership of HCM Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) and the visionary guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji.
