Major Reshuffle in NCHAC Executive Committee: Nojit Kemprai Appointed Executive Member, Amendu Hojai Removed

The Government of Assam's Hill Areas Department has issued an official notification announcing changes in the Executive Committee of the 13th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC).

As per the notification dated 8 July 2026, Shri Nojit Kemprai, MAC, has been appointed as an Executive Member of the 13th NCHAC with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, Shri Amendu Hojai has been removed from the post of Executive Member with immediate effect. However, he will continue to serve as a Member of Autonomous Council (MAC).

The notification has been issued with the approval of the Hon'ble Governor of Assam.

IPF, ISF & IWF Meet Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, Push for New District and Key Development Project

RNTV / 8th July:- A joint delegation of the Indigenous Peoples' Forum (IPF), Indigenous Students' Forum (ISF), Indigenous Women's Forum (IWF), along with several apex and student bodies, met Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to discuss the long-pending demand for district bifurcation and the creation of a new district.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed the proposed district map, boundaries, and name, reaffirming his commitment to fulfilling the promises made before the elections. He also clarified that the official name of the autonomous council is the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) and stated that any incorrect nomenclature would be addressed legally.

The delegation also submitted a memorandum seeking the establishment of a Tribal Medical College, a Degree College at Mahur, better roads and bridges, electrification, student hostels, and other essential development projects for the region. The assurance from the Chief Minister has been welcomed by the delegation as a positive step toward the development of North Cachar Hills.
