In a significant development on Sunday, seven Bangladeshi nationals were detained by Belonia police when they attempted to enter India illegally through the border village of Amzadnagar in the South Tripura district. The group was apprehended after authorities received a tip, and they are currently in police custody.

According to law enforcement officials, Officer-in-Charge Shibu Ranjan Dey of Belonia Police Station led the operation. Based on intelligence, the police force acted quickly and stopped a car carrying Bangladeshi nationals at Manur Mukh Tabla Chowmuhani. Along with the seven other individuals, Raju Biswas, the car's driver, was also taken into custody for interrogation.

The first Pumped Storage Project (PSP) in the Northeast will be introduced in Assam. PSPs are new hydropower storage systems intended to meet peak power demand and maintain grid stability.

He stated that work is anticipated to start within the year. "Had a productive follow up meeting with the Greenko Group on their investment commitments made during ," CM Sarma said on X.

Before the year ends, we anticipate that more than ₹12,000 cr worth of power-related projects will start construction. The PSP establishes Assam as a major participant in India's green power transition and represents a major advancement in the state's drive for sustainable energy solutions.

On the evening of April 14, three automobiles were damaged when a huge tree fell close to the local taxi stand in Singtam, Sikkim's main market.

During rush hour, the incident caused concern among commuters and locals. Thankfully, no injuries were recorded despite the fact that the incident happened during a busy time in the area. A loud cracking sound was heard just before the tree toppled, just missing pedestrians, according to witnesses.

Three vehicles, including two taxis and a private vehicle, were partially damaged by the falling branches, according to preliminary reports. Municipal officials and local police swiftly came on the scene to remove the barrier and resume regular traffic flow.

The program was a component of the foundation's larger effort to increase public awareness of autism and related developmental disorders.

The program was organised by Dr. Mitesh Kumar Chaudhari, a licensed speech-language pathologist, audiologist, and deglutologist, and was hosted under the auspices of the foundation's Spring Child Development Centre.

The goal of the test was to find communication difficulties in adults and children, especially in those exhibiting symptoms of learning disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and other developmental delays.

On the advice of local elders, many Meiteis who had gathered for the revered pilgrimage to the Thangjing hills cancelled their plans on April 14. Because the Kuki-Zo members opposed the pilgrims' crossing of the "buffer zone," the plan did not go as planned. The Thangjing Hills are more than ten miles away from Moirang town in the Bishnupur district.

The buffer zone, which is highly fortified by security troops, divides the restive state's Kuki-dominated hill districts from the Meitei-controlled Imphal Valley.

The districts of Bishnupur and Churachandpur, which have been stricken by ethnic violence since May 2023, saw an increase in security.

Security forces continue to seize weapons, ammunition, explosives, drugs, and exotic animals in Mizoram. On Sunday, officials said that 17.946 kg of highly addictive methamphetamine tablets worth over Rs 54 crore had been seized in the northeastern state. A Myanmar national who was a narcotics dealer was arrested in relation to the seizure.

Nearly 17.946 kg (1,80,000 tablets) of methamphetamine tablets were recovered at Siachangkawn in Lawngtlai district, which shares an unfenced border with Bangladesh, on Saturday night after the Assam Rifles and Mizoram police launched a swift and precise joint operation in response to secret inputs, according to a defence spokesman.

According to him, the estimated worth of the confiscated contraband is close to Rs 54 crore. The narcotics and the arrested Myanmar national are being turned over to the Bualpui Police outpost in the Lawngtlai district for additional legal action.

The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Robert Vadra, businessman and brother-in-law of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, for questioning on Tuesday (April 15, 2025) in a land deal- linked money laundering case, official sources said.

On April 8, Mr. Vadra, 56, was initially called in this lawsuit, but he chose not to take a deposition. A land purchase in Shikohpur, Haryana, is connected to the investigation against Mr. Vadra, whose wife, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, is the Congress MP from Wayanad in Kerala.

According to the sources, the ED would record his testimony under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) after he appears before the agency. The federal investigative agency had already questioned Mr. Vadra in a separate money laundering case.
