Assamese cinema pays homage to one of its most revered figures with the release of Bhaimon Da, a biographical film that delves into the life and legacy of the legendary filmmaker Munin Barua. Directed by Sasanka Samir and produced by Shyamantak Gautam under the Zeal Creations banner, the film premiered in theaters across Assam on May 23, 2025 .

Munin Barua, affectionately known as "Bhaimon Da," was instrumental in shaping modern Assamese cinema. His directorial ventures, including Hiya Diya Niya and Dinabandhu, brought Assamese narratives to the forefront, blending cultural authenticity with mass appeal .

In Bhaimon Da, actor Bondip Sarma portrays Munin Barua, capturing the essence of a man whose vision transformed the regional film industry . The film's music, composed by Zubeen Garg and Poran Borkotoky, resonates with the emotional depth characteristic of Barua's own cinematic works .

Critics have lauded the film for its heartfelt storytelling and authentic representation of Barua's journey. With a runtime of 2 hours and 39 minutes, Bhaimon Da offers audiences an intimate look into the challenges and triumphs that defined Barua's illustrious career.

As the first commercial biopic in Assamese cinema, Bhaimon Da not only honors Munin Barua's contributions but also serves as an inspiration for future generations of filmmakers. It stands as a testament to the enduring impact of a visionary who dedicated his life to storytelling.

The documentary puts some of the indigenous population of Northeast India and their inspiring efforts towards conservation on the spotlight. The primary focus is on how these communities are leading the charge against climate change where we follow their journey, showcasing the daily lives and challenges they face in their conservation work. Through their stories, we illustrate the vital role they play as custodians of India’s natural wealth.

The film offers a platform for these remarkable individuals who share their successes and struggles. Through their example, we hope to inspire viewers to join the fight for a sustainable future.
