Assam is accelerating infrastructure development across cities, towns and villages to overcome decades of connectivity gaps and ensure the benefits of development reach more people.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said better connectivity will form the foundation of Assam’s next phase of growth, with smoother and uninterrupted movement becoming the norm.

As part of this effort, a new Railway Overbridge was dedicated at Cinnamara in Jorhat, aimed at easing congestion at a key traffic bottleneck in the historic town.

The project is also part of Assam’s wider initiative to make railway crossings traffic free and improve movement across major urban and rural areas.

The focus, the Chief Minister said, is to reverse the state’s connectivity deficit and build an infrastructure network that enables faster, easier and more inclusive growth.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the new integrated District Commissioner’s office in Jorhat, replacing the colonial era office building constructed in 1914.

Designed and built in India, the new facility reflects a modern approach to public administration and is aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat and Viksit Assam.

The integrated office is part of a wider state initiative to modernise DC offices across Assam. Similar projects are underway in Kamrup Metro, Nalbari and several other districts.

The new offices aim to bring multiple government services under one roof, reducing the need for citizens to visit different departments and improving transparency, efficiency and accountability.

The initiative also builds on Sewa Setu, which currently provides more than 800 services across 47 departments and has delivered over 1.5 crore services, with the broader goal of making Ease of Living a reality for citizens across Assam.

Princess Diana’s legendary black dress, famously known as the “Revenge Dress,” is set to return to the auction block nearly three decades after it was last sold.

Designed by British designer Christina Stambolian, the off shoulder black silk dress was worn by Diana at a 1994 Vanity Fair event in London, becoming one of her most memorable fashion moments.

The dress is now being offered by Sotheby’s, with the auction house estimating its value at $150,000 to $300,000.

The garment was previously sold by Christie’s in New York in June 1997, just months before Diana’s death, and has since remained in a private collection.

Sotheby’s has scheduled the dedicated Princess Diana: The Revenge Dress auction for December 9, 2026, in New York, bringing one of the most recognisable pieces from Diana’s wardrobe back into the spotlight.
