Title: You, Your Persona - Attract and Manifest Miracles in Your Life
Author: Avinash Rai (.rai.923)
Publisher: Yukii Publishing ()
Page Count: 100
Genre: Self-Help
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

You, Your Persona is a self-help guide for all the lost souls who feel like giving up on difficult situations. The book would motivate them into action by reminding them to take charge of their life and take steps towards achieving success, both in career as well as life.

The book touches upon various little aspects such as Resilience, Dream, Attitude, etc. that we to must work upon to achieve success. This was one of the things I liked the most because many of these aspects are what we never take into consideration and thus, it was eye-opening for me.

Further, the chapter in the book are short with an easy language and simple yet effective writing style. What makes the experience of reading this self-help guide even more knowledgeable and value adding is the space provided at end of each chapter to jot down things learnt from it.

Overall, I found this short 100 page self-help guide quite insightful and would recommend people looking for such books to pick this one.

The book is a collection of 29 short stories that describe the experiences and opinions of the author on various perspectives of life like love, faith, religion, inequality, health, sexual abuse, prostitution, science, discovery, etc.

The stories are short and easy to read, but at the same time, they are quite thought-provoking. All of them are a mix of conversations, morals, the author’s experiences, and lessons he learned from them.

Also, what’s more commendable is that the author has shown great courage in expressing his strong opinions about social devils which people are generally scared to talk about.

However, I wasn’t able to completely agree with all the stories and felt that they could be better expressed

In all, it felt that the author poured his heart out in writing the book, expressing his opinions about various things in a lucid and flawless manner, which when added to his easy and beginner-friendly writing style, makes it quite a good and promising read for beginners.

The story is set in the 1950s in Calcutta and revolves around an eighteen-year-old lad, Dilip, and a married Anglo-Indian woman, Cindy who fall in love with each other. However, Cindy is old enough to be of Dilip’s mother’s age. Will their relationship be accepted by society?

The story is well-written with short and crisp narration describing post-independence Calcutta quite beautifully and various aspects related to it. Besides, being a really short book, it can be easily finished in a single sitting. However, I felt that more details could have been added to the book.

Overall, it was a good read for me and I would recommend people looking for a short and fast-paced romantic story in a historical setting to pick this book up.

As the titles suggests, the book consists of 100 quotes which present the life experiences of the author and his learnings from them in the condensed form of quotes. The quotes are centred around various aspects of life like love, friendship, career, growth, etc.

The quotes are short, simple, crisp and easy to read, but carry a deeper meaning with them which the reader can easily interpret and apply those into his/her daily life. The author has very beautifully shared his life learnings in this book through his motivating quotes.

The title and cover of the book are quite thoughtful and go well with the book. Also, I really liked the way the quotes have been presented inside the book.

At the end, I feel that this great book is like a bible for life which everyone should keep by their bedside and go through all the quotes every morning to motivate themselves into action.

The book revolves around the story of two childhood playmates, Aahan who is born into the wealthy Sikand family and Rajesh who is the son of Sikand family's driver. Both are brought up by the same woman, Rajesh's mother, Babita. However, as they grow up, their friendship keeps on getting distant as they become aware about their places in the world.

Where Aahan is fed with a silver spoon, inheriting his father's business and property and living a life of luxury, Rajesh works hard on his ambitions to build a better life for himself and his parents, while making sure that his children don't have to go through the discrimination of being a servant's son that he went through.

The story, set in two timelines i.e. 1980s and present, touched upon various themes like class divide, individual ambitions and aspirations, family bonds, feminism, politics, greed, casteism, etc through it's well-developed and strong characters.

The author, through her outstanding writing style and descriptive narration, managed to keep me hooked to the story till the very end where she tied all the loose ends in a flawless manner. However, at few points in the book, I felt that large descriptions could have been avoided.

Overall, I feel that it's a great debut and would like to recommend it to all the contemporary fiction lovers who are comfortable with encountering few difficult words here and there.

It is the story of two classmates, Sanjay and Sonam who turn lovers as Sanjay proposes to her on the last day of college. Their love and care for each other form a very strong bond between them. But slowly, problems and misunderstandings started arising which shattered their bond and both parted their ways.

Sanjay always dreamed of being a writer, but he gets rejected again and again by various publishers which makes him lose hope on seeing his dream gets shattered and he feels guilt-ridden and depressed when his lover and supporter, Sonam gets away from his life.

But as luck would have it, Sanjay accidentally meets a publisher named Diya who approves his manuscript and as both started working on it, their bond grows stronger and they are more than just friends. Sanjay who is unable to move on from Sonam finds this situation really confusing and it gets complicated when he runs into Sonam one day and realizes that both are living in the same city.

Sanjay and Sonam’s perfectly imperfect love was something that I truly enjoyed reading. With good character development and well-expressed emotions and feelings, the book got me hooked till the very end. However, the book felt exaggerated at many points where unnecessarily long descriptions acted as a turnoff. Overall, I feel that this book would be a good pick for beginners who want to explore this genre owing to the easy and beginner-friendly language and writing style.

I got a review copy of the book from the author in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Genre: Fiction, Suspense, Mystery
Pages: 48
Rating: 3.5/5

The story has three primary characters, Rose, Tonya and Alvin. Rose and Tonya are roommates and best friends. Rose is suffering from some sort of a mental disorder due to which she starts acting like the character she reads in a book or watches in a movie. She works as Managing Editor in 'The Truth' which is a daily newspaper. Alvin is also employed in 'The Truth' as an Editor-in-chief. Rose initially starts envying him as she was promised to be promoted to that position, but then falls for him and they get married. However, things start getting upturned as a series of incidents take place.

The story is a combination of crime mystery with a hint of fantasy.

The story is well-plotted and well-written with a smooth flow throughout the book and it’s commendable on part of the author to have included so many twists and turns in so less pages which makes it a gripping read. Also, the theme of the book is quite unique and interesting and the ending was unpredictable for me and tied the loose ends very well

However, character development was not up to the mark and could have been better. Also, the epilogue got me a bit confused and I felt that it was unnecessarily added.

The writing style is simple and lucid and the language is easy and beginner-friendly

Overall, it was a good, short and intriguing read and I would recommend everyone to give this book a try. Even for beginners, it would be a good book to pick as it is a page-turner and can be easily finished within one sitting.

Genre: Historical fiction, Partition of India
Rating: 5/5

The book is based on the true story of a limb fitter, Ghulam Ali who wants to come back to his motherland, India to get reunited with his lover, Zahira Raza. During the time of partition, Ghulam Ali finds himself at Hindu Refugee Camp Lahore after being badly beaten by the Pakistani police. The story describes his struggles as he tries everything within his capabilities like writing letters to ministers, jornalists, etc and talking to everyone he feels could help him come back to India, but fails again and again as having served in the Pakistani Army goes against him and makes everyone feel that he is a jasoos. It is the story of the struggles, frustration, pain and much more that both of them go through due to the partition.

The chapters are written in the form of letters that both of them send to each other.

The story is well-researched, well-plotted and well-written with good character development and is a mix of a lot of emotions which have been expressed very well by the author. Also, the way social issues of that time like gender discrimination, usage of religion as a tool by politicians, etc have been touched upon in the book is fabulous. With all this, the smooth flow of story throughout the book adds to the reading experience.

The writing style is simple and lucid with easy and beginner friendly language.

Overall, it is a great book and left me with a heavy heart at the end wondering how much struggle did people like Ghulam Ali and Zahira Raza went through just to get united with their loved ones. I would highly recommend everyone to pick this book at least once and for non-readers, it would be the best book to start your reading journey with as the way the book is written will make you fall in love with reading and you would soon pick your second book too.
