Mobile phone companies are making arrangements to resume partial operations at around 25 per cent production capacity by the end of this month and scale up to full capacity by June-end if sales are allowed in the country. Shares of ICICI Bank tumbled nearly 7 per cent to Rs 337.25 on the BSE on Tuesday after reports suggested the bank has exposure to Ocean Tankers, a unit of Singapore oil-trading firm Hin Leong Trading (HLT), that has filed for bankruptcy in Singapore. Kolkata: India’s top smartphone and consumer electronic brands like Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Apple, LG, Panasonic, Realme and OnePlus are planning to postpone their manufacturing plans till the lockdown ends, four senior industry executives said. The executives said several of these brands took the decision since both offline and online market is closed leading to piling up of inventory in their warehouses, and several of their plants falling in red zones or in states where permission has not yet been given. Soon after the central government sent a team to monitor the Covid-19 situation in West Bengal, a war of words broke out between the West Bengal government and Centre. The Centre’s decision to send Inter-Ministerial Central Teams (ICMTs) to visit and monitor some districts in West Bengal has not gone down well with the state government. NEW DELHI: Using double layered bags, mandatory labelling and colour coded bins for the management of waste generated during the diagnostics and treatment of suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients are part of the guidelines issued by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The apex pollution monitoring body said specific guidelines are required to be followed by all, including isolation wards, quarantine centres, sample collection centres, laboratories, ULBs and common biomedical waste treatment and disposal facilities, in addition to existing practices under BMW Management Rules, 2016. India’s coronavirus infection rate – positive results as a proportion of tests conducted – has increased sharply from 3.5 per cent on April 1 to 4.6 per cent on April 19, reveal data released by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
As on April 19, India had tested 383,985 people for Covid-19, and found 17,615 of them (4.6 per cent) to be positive for the virus. [ 572 more words ]
