EPISODE 2 | Why Does Krishna Have So Many Names? ✨

Have you ever wondered…
Krishna, Govind, Madhav — and so many more… why does one Supreme Lord have countless names?

In this episode, we explore the powerful story of Ajamil

Ajamil was once a pure Brahmin and devoted servant of Lord Narayan. But due to the influence of illusion (maya), he fell into sinful activities and abandoned his righteous life. Over time, he became deeply absorbed in wrongdoing.

However, he named his son Narayan.

At the time of death, when the servants of Yamaraj came to take his soul, Ajamila called out loudly to his son — “Narayan! Narayan!”
Though he intended to call his child, he unknowingly uttered the holy name of the Lord.

Immediately, the divine messengers of Lord Narayan arrived and stopped the Yamadutas, declaring that because Ajamila had chanted the Lord’s name at the time of death, he was freed from the reactions of his sins.

This beautiful pastime teaches us a powerful truth:

💛 The Lord is so merciful that anyone who chants His name — knowingly or unknowingly — receives His grace.

And perhaps that is why the Lord has so many names.
Krishna. Govind. Madhav. Narayan.
Different names — same Supreme Lord.

No matter which name we call with sincerity, we are calling out to the same compassionate Supreme Personality.

✨ The Holy Name itself carries divine power.

EPISODE 1 | Why do we offer Dandavat Pranam from the LEFT side in ISKCON? 🙏✨

Have you ever wondered why in ISKCON temples we offer dandavat pranam from the left side instead of straight from the front?

📌 According to Shastra, the Guru’s place is in front of the Lord. In most ISKCON temples, Srila Prabhupada (our Founder-Acharya) is seated facing the Deities.
So if we offer dandavat directly from the front, it may appear as if we are crossing the Guru’s position — and that is considered disrespectful.
That’s why we offer pranam from the side.

💛 Why specifically the LEFT side?
Because our heart is on the left side. Offering dandavat from the left means:
“I am bowing to You with my heart and surrendering myself completely at Your lotus feet.”

👩‍🦰 Why do Matajis do Panchanga Pranam?
Matajis offer panchanga pranam because it is said their chest should not touch the ground while offering pranam.

👨‍🦱 Why do Prabhus do Dandavat?
Prabhus offer full dandavat, meaning lying flat like a stick (danda) in complete surrender.

✨ That’s why we offer pranam from the left side in ISKCON.
