When it comes to recent action flicks, Baby John and Marco are making waves—but for totally different reasons. Both had the hype, but only one really managed to deliver.
Let’s talk Baby John first. Starring Varun Dhawan, it’s the Hindi remake of the Tamil hit Theri. The story follows John D’Silva, a single dad with a secret cop past, who’s forced to take on a gang to protect his daughter. Sounds intense, right? But while the film tries to mix heart and action, it kinda misses the mark. Critics weren’t thrilled, and audiences didn’t exactly flock to theaters. The movie tried addressing serious issues like women’s safety, but the ex*****on felt clunky. To make matters worse, it flopped at the box office so hard that theaters started replacing it with other films soon after release.
Now, Marco is a whole different vibe. Featuring Unni Mukundan, this one’s dark, gritty, and all about revenge and justice. The storytelling and action sequences are so gripping that it’s been winning over audiences and critics alike. Released just before Baby John, Marco didn’t just hold its ground—it outshined the competition. In fact, the demand for Marco was so high that some theaters swapped out Baby John for it. Talk about stealing the spotlight!
At the end of the day, these two films show how unpredictable the action genre can be. While Baby John struggled to live up to its remake status, Marco proved that originality and strong storytelling can still pull big crowds.
