It's really weird!

It feels just like yesterday yet it's been a turbulent 3 years. This was literally my first day of school. Everything has just been feeling like one long day.

It's funny how the few months left feel like a long time but the years that have passed feel just like yesterday. Time is a really weird thing to deal with.

Before you send your child abroad, read this

Sending your children abroad is a dream for many parents and it can be a dream come true if done in the proper way. But here are the mistakes parents often make

1. Not doing proper research about the country to which you are sending your children. Factors like economics, cost of living and standards of living greatly affect the educational experience of your child abroad. It is a common belief among Africans that anywhere out of Africa can do. Hehee😂😂

2. Not doing proper research about the university you are sending your child to. This can usually be a bad move if the university is not well recognized globally.
That's when you realize you have spent thousands of dollars on a degree that cannot even land your child a job in your own country. The whole point about studying abroad is to get better education.

3. Not doing proper career planning.

Start with the end in mind. If my child studies there, what is the way forward? What are the advantages? What is the exit plan? Is this degree viable to work in my country? Ok you want to move to a better country afterwards. How?
You can't just throw the bones and pray
Too often we see parents spending thousands on degrees abroad where it could have been better if they sent their children to a local university.

Be wiser, know better. Check for the last one in the comments

Afterthought

One of the things I take pride in on my past 3 years in India is the opportunity to have to grow my public speaking skills.

I remember how I used to shiver when I was given the task to speak in front of a crowd.

Fast forward several years later, I now host events and parties at my university. In fact, I can argue that I might be the best😂 lol. I actually won an award because of it.

I'm grateful to Galgotias University for having given me this opportunity 🙏

Brutal Advice from a final year student to a first year student studying abroad

If I was to redo my study abroad journey, this is the advice I would give to myself before moving to India

1. Avoid women you have no interest in dating

2. Keep a small circle. Avoid making friends at random you will save yourself from bad habits.

3. Control your temper. At the end of the day people remember your reaction, not what pi**ed you off.

4. Involve yourself in hobbies that grow you.

5. Don't expect the journey to be easy, you're starting a whole new entire life.

Lastly, have patience with yourself
