Press Day is being celebrated every year on this day for the sweet memory of July 1, 1843 when Kannada's first newspaper 'Mangaluru Samachara' was published. It is notable how Kannada journalism is growing in these 180 years. Reporters and countless journalists working behind the scenes inside the news house, work tremendously in preparing newspapers. As a result we are getting accurate and reliable news.
The newspapers will help expansion of knowledge by providing information about all sectors including literature, health, education, industry. Thus, newspapers play an important role in the intellectual development of the citizens of the state. The newspapers are showing commitment to bringing social and political changes, improving the administrative sector and raising awareness among the public. Expecting more positive outcomes in the future from the media field.
