Cows have been everything in India.
Holy. Sacred. Worshipped.
And then… abandoned in the streets.
For the past year, every day on my way to work,
I pass the same street.
The same herd of cows.
Some sitting. Some standing. Some just staring.
But all of them eating garbage.
The cows eating plastic today…
are the same ones giving us milk tomorrow.
The food we throw mixed with plastic
ends up in the same piles they feed on.
They look fine from the outside.
But inside, their stomachs are slowly filling up with plastic.
Plastic blocks their digestion.
Their stomach fills…, but their body starves.
They don’t die of hunger.
They die with a full stomach.
Veterinarians have found up to 70 kg of plastic inside a single cow.
And this isn’t rare.
It’s happening on our streets.
Every single day.
Around 800+ cows die every day in India because of this.
Not because there is no food.
But because we never separated it from plastic.
This is not just their reality.
This is our responsibility.
I saw myself and people walk past it.
But I couldn’t ignore it anymore.
