Who has the greatest expertise on a mental health condition: a practitioner or someone living with it?

Lived experience is increasingly recognised as an essential source of knowledge for shaping effective mental health policies and care frameworks.

As mental health care moves from institutionalisation towards person-centred, community-based models, the perspectives of people who use these services must remain central to that transition.

This World Mental Health Day, we reflect on the importance of building mental health systems with, not simply for, the people they serve. At Sage, we support mental health research that brings together diverse perspectives and disciplines to deepen understanding, challenge established approaches and inform more effective and equitable mental health care.

How many tonnes of cardboard waste makes its way into landfills every year? Now, that waste could be used to retrieve critical rare earth elements from industrial streams, offering a genuinely circular answer to a supply chain issue the world is anxious about.

This 2026 study in Polymers from Renewable Resources describes a cellulose-based adsorbent made from recycled carton waste that can recover rare earth elements from acidic industrial leachate. The adsorbent shows a sorption capacity of around 196 mg of rare earths per gram of adsorbent, 98% of which can be released during desorption.

The material offers a viable solution for the selective recovery of rare earth elements, which are traditionally obtained through mining.

How is AI reshaping the future of electronic theses and dissertations?

Sage is joining ETD 2026, the 29th International Symposium on Electronic Theses and Dissertations, centred on the theme “ETDs in the Age of AI,” that brings together librarians, researchers, policymakers, technologists, and other professionals to explore AI-driven developments across the ETD ecosystem.

Have you ever wondered why sometimes high-performing students have slow career progression? Or why some students do exceedingly well at placement interviews but others do not?

Not all the skills you need to succeed at work show up on a report card. Leadership, negotiation, and professionalism are rarely learnt within the classroom.

Sage Skills is a resource for students that offers two distinct tracks: Student Success and Business/Employability. Designed to help students self-assess and practice critical workplace skills, the interactive digital platform helps students translate their successes in college to success in the workplace and beyond.

On Gandhi Jayanti, we pause to remember his vision and the lasting value of his words. These ideas continue to guide us toward more thoughtful, informed, and empowered communities.

Translation is more than converting words from one language to another.

It requires accuracy, context, and cultural understanding. This International Translation Day, we explore how AI-powered machine translation, combined with human post-editing, can make the translation of complex health research faster while preserving meaning, clarity, and cultural relevance.
