वाराणसी की शान, शास्त्रीय संगीत के महानायक पंडित छन्नूलाल मिश्रा अब हमारे बीच नहीं रहे। 89 वर्ष की आयु में, लंबी बीमारी से जूझने के बाद, आज 2 अक्टूबर की सुबह उन्होंने अंतिम सांस ली। आजमगढ़ में जन्मे इस अद्भुत कलाकार ने अपने सुरों से पूरी दुनिया को मोहित किया। पद्म विभूषण, पद्मभूषण और संगीत नाटक अकादमी पुरस्कार जैसे सम्मान उनकी अद्वितीय साधना का प्रमाण हैं। पंडित जी ने ठुमरी, दादरा और भजन गायन को नई ऊँचाइयाँ दीं। उनके स्वर ने गंगा-घाट से लेकर हर श्रोता के हृदय तक अपनी छाप छोड़ी। उनका अंतिम संस्कार वाराणसी में किया जाएगा।
