The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has instructed food business operators (FBOs) to stop labelling reconstituted fruit juices as 100% fruit juice. The FSSAI says this labelling is misleading because reconstituted juice contains added water. Additionally, if the juice has more than 15 gm/kg of added sweeteners, it must be labelled as “sweetened juice”.
