Over 15 million devotees, including 1 million Kalpawasis, took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam on January 27 during the ongoing Maha Kumbh. 🙏 Since January 13, over 140 million have participated. Union Minister Amit Shah and UP CM Yogi Adityanath were also seen taking part in this sacred event.

Maha Kumbh is a celebration of faith, with pilgrims praising the excellent arrangements in Prayagraj.

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma began the second leg of his global outreach initiative in Japan for Advantage Assam 2.0, meeting with over 160 Japanese business leaders at the Investment and Infrastructure Summit in Tokyo. The summit focused on showcasing Assam’s economic growth and attracting Japanese investment in key sectors, strengthening economic ties between Japan and the state.

Advantage Assam 2.0 aims to position Assam as a prime destination for investment and infrastructure development.

India is on track to become malaria-free by 2030, with a significant 80% drop in malaria cases and fatalities from 2015 to 2023, according to the Union Health Ministry. The country has exited the WHO’s High Burden to High Impact (HBHI) group in 2024, as reported in the latest World Malaria Report.
Many states have successfully reduced their malaria burden, with 24 states and Union Territories now reporting less than one case per 1,000 people. States like Ladakh, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry have reached Category 0, with zero indigenous malaria cases.
From 2015 to 2023, malaria cases fell from 1.17 million to 227,564, while deaths dropped from 384 to just 83. The goal is to achieve zero indigenous cases by 2027.

The Assam Cabinet has declared 2025 as the ‘Year of Reading’ to promote a culture of reading across the state. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the initiative on December 23, aiming to boost literacy and intellectual growth, particularly among the youth.
Key plans include hosting book fairs in all districts, with the Assam Book Fair in Khanapara (Dec 27 - Jan 7) kicking off the campaign. Books will also be distributed as New Year gifts, and government departments will set up libraries to foster reading habits among both employees and the public.
This initiative underscores Assam’s commitment to promoting literacy and nurturing a knowledgeable society.
