Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Rome on Tuesday for the fifth and final leg of his five-nation tour, at the invitation of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and broke the internet hours later by dropping pictures with his Italian counterpart “friend”.

✅ Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma today took oath as the Chief Minister of Assam for a second consecutive term.

Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya administered the oath of office and secrecy to Dr Sarma at a ceremony held at the Veterinary College Ground in Khanapara, Guwahati.

Along with Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, four MLAs were also sworn in as Cabinet Ministers.

They include Rameswar Teli and Ajanta Neog from the BJP, Atul Bora from Asom Gana Parishad and Charan Boro from Bodoland People’s Front.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, several Union Ministers and Chief Ministers from NDA ruled states attended the ceremony.

✅ Suvendu Adhikari is the ninth Chief Minister of West Bengal succeeding Mamata Banerjee, who had occupied the Chair for the last 15 years since 2011.

✅ The oath ceremony was conducted on Saturday, which coincides with the birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore as per the Bengali calendar. ✔ West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has refused to step down from the post of Chief Minister and declared that she would not resign in the wake of the recent election results because she believed that the votes were looted by force and the entire voting process was rigged.

Speaking to the reporters in Kolkata today, she expressed determination her party have not lost. Mamata Banerjee accused the Election Commission of bias, saying it has created a “dark chapter” in India’s democratic history.
