In an unprecedented move, which will send a strong message to those skipping domestic cricket, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has dropped Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan from the annual contract list.

The decision comes after the two players refused to turn up for their domestic sides despite BCCI secretary Jay Shah sending a strongly-worded letter to all the contracted players to feature in domestic cricket. Hardik Pandya, another player who hasn’t played any cricket since the World Cup, and was recovering from an ankle injury, though keeps his place in Grade A.

On the other hand, Netizens have alleged that both Ishan Kishan and Iyer have dropped out of domestic cricket because of the upcoming IPL games.

Offering prayers at the ancient site of Dwarka, which is immersed in waters, PM Modi called it a 'very divine experience'.

"To pray in the city of Dwarka, which is immersed in the waters, was a very divine experience. I felt connected to an ancient era of spiritual grandeur and timeless devotion. May Bhagwan Shri Krishna bless us all," the Prime Minister said in a post on X after the scuba driving experience.

In a bizarre turn of events, a 31-year-old businesswoman has been apprehended by police for allegedly stalking and abducting a television music channel anchor with the intention of marrying him.

According to police, the woman, identified as Bhogireddy Trishna, who operates a digital marketing business, became fixated on TV anchor Pranav Sistla after stumbling upon his photos on a matrimony website two years ago.

Trishna searched through the profile and found the phone number of the TV anchor. When she contacted Pranav through an instant messaging app, the anchor informed her that some unknown person had used his photo and created a fake account on the matrimony site. He also said that he had lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime police station about it.

The woman continued sending messages to the anchor. However, her advances were rebuffed when Pranav blocked her number.

Underdeterred by the setback, Trishna, determined to marry the anchor, allegedly hatched a plan to abduct him, thinking she could get things sorted out. Accordingly, she hired four persons to kidnap the anchor and also installed a tracking device on the victim's car to watch his movements.

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings will host Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in the opening match of IPL 2024 on March 22.

On Thursday, the IPL released a partial schedule comprising an initial set of 21 matches between March 22 and April 7. The IPL final is expected to be played on May 26, with just five days between that and the opening match of the men's T20 World Cup, to be played in the USA and the Caribbean from June 1.

The second half of the tournament schedule is expected once the Election Commission of India reveals the dates of the national elections, which are expected to take place in the months of April and May.

Sunny Leone's photograph along with her name appearing on an admit card for the Uttar Pradesh Police Constable Recruitment examination has gone viral on social media.

Media reports claimed that the registration was done on the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board's (UPPRB) website for the post of constable (civil police).

Live Hindustan reported that the mobile number used during the registration belongs to a resident in UP's Mahoba. The address provided in the registration form is in Mumbai.

The college administration, however, said no candidate appeared with the particular admit card on the day of the examination.

Meanwhile, police officials said the admit card was fake and that the photo of the actor was uploaded during the registration process by the candidate, the report said. It added that directions were issued to the candidate. The person was asked to appear at the centre with their photograph and the Aadhaar card.

Khan has been churning runs over the years in domestic cricket. Despite the runs, a Test debut was the thing he only could dream of before today. But on Thursday he and his father Naushad Khan’s dream became a reality ahead of the third Test between India vs England in Rajkot as Sarfaraz was presented with his debut cap by former leg-spinner Anil Kumble.

Naushad was seen in tears as his son was presented with the cap, He later hugged him with joy and kissed the Indian badge on his Sarfaraz’s cap.

He was batting on 62 in 66 balls, with seven fours and one six, and had added 77 runs with Jadeja for the fifth wicket. He was welcomed to Test cricket with bouncers by Mark Wood but then took the attack to the England bowlers.

Sarfaraz hit 9 fours and 1 six and looked at ease both against the pacers and the England spinners.

The seven Navy veterans jailed in Qatar, who were brought back to India today, had no clue of their imminent release, sources have told NDTV. The veterans, the sources said, were asked by jailors last night to pack their things and wait at about 9 am (local time) yesterday. They were then whisked away to the Embassy and subsequently taken to the airport, sources said. They boarded an IndiGo flight that landed in Delhi at 2 am.

The seven veterans are among eight Indians sentenced to death by a Qatar court in October, allegedly for spying. The capital punishment was commuted in December following India's diplomatic intervention. The lone veteran not back yet is working through some paper work and is expected to return soon.

The veterans who returned today are Captain Navtej Singh Gill (retired), Captain Saurabh Vasisht (retired), Commander Purnendu Tiwari (retired), Captain Birendra Kumar Verma (retired), Commander Sugunakar Pakala (retired), Commander Sanjeev Gupta (retired), Commander Amit Nagpal (retired) and Sailor Ragesh (retired). The eight veterans were arrested in Qatar in 2022 and were in jail since.

While reports said they were arrested on charges of spying, neither New Delhi nor Doha has publicly remarked on the allegations against them. Before their arrest, the veterans were employed by a private firm, Dahra Global, and were involved in training the Qatar Navy.

It was nothing short of a "dream come true" moment for Rajeev Arikkatt, an Indian expat in the UAE when he won 15 million dirhams (approximately Rs 33 crore) in the Big-Ticket Abu Dhabi weekly draw.

As per a report by Khaleej Times, Mr Arikkatt had high hopes of winning this time, given that he purchased a total of six tickets for the draw.

However, this win came as a complete surprise for Mr Arikkatt, as it was the complimentary ticket, number 037130, which secured his victory.

Rajeev Arikkatt, who hails from Kerala in India, works at an architectural firm in the UAE city of Al Ain.

The 40-year-old, who bought the lottery ticket on January 10, has been living in the UAE for more than 10 years.

The architectural draftsman lives with his wife and their two children—five years old and eight years old.

Mr Arikkatt has been participating in the Big Ticket draws for the past three years.

SP City) Harbans Singh told PTI that six rioters were killed in total. Seven people, including a journalist, are being treated at the city's hospitals. A total of 60 people were injured; most of them have been discharged after first aid.

Uttarakhand DGP Abhinav Kumar said today that the police are planning to impose the stringent National Security Act against those who attacked police personnel in Haldwani. "Action under the NSA will be taken against unruly elements who attacked police personnel, and indulged in arson and vandalism at the police station in Banbhoolpura," he said. He added that the situation is under control and normalcy will be brought to the city within 24 hours.

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has clinched the top spot in the Test bowling rankings for the first time on the latest ICC Men's Test Bowler rankings, confirmed by the apex cricket control body ICC on 7 February.

With this, Bumrah has become the first bowler in history to be ranked on top in all three formats of cricket. Earlier on 17 July 2022, Bumrah was ranked the number 1 bowler in ODIs by ICC, however, he is currently ranked 6th in the ODI format. In T20 format he also achieved the top spot, but currently is at 89th in the ranking.

Bumrah's rise to the top of the Test bowling rankings has happened because of his tremendous match figures of 9/91 during his side's series-equalling 106-run victory over England in the second Test in Visakhapatnam.

Union home minister Amit Shah announced on Tuesday that the central government has decided to build a fence along the entire 1643-kilometre Indo-Myanmar border. Additionally, a patrol track will be constructed along the border to enhance surveillance.

He added that the government has already fenced a 10 km stretch in Moreh, Manipur, out of the total border length. Additionally, there are two ongoing pilot projects involving fencing through a Hybrid Surveillance System (HSS). These projects will cover a stretch of 1 km each in Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur, Shah said.

Mizoram shares a 510-km-long border with Myanmar.

Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh also said that several people from Myanmar attempted to enter his state but retreated upon encountering a large number of security personnel.

Apart from Manipur and Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh shares a 520-km border with Myanmar, and Nagaland shares a 215-km border with the country.

In a major development, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (UP ATS) has arrested an employee posted at the Indian Embassy in Moscow, Russia, accused of being an agent of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

The accused, identified as Satyendra Siwal, a native of the northern Indian city of Hapur in Uttar Pradesh had been posted at the Embassy since 2021 and worked as an MTS (multi-tasking staff) at the Ministry of External Affairs.

According to reports, he was arrested after ATS received intelligence from confidential sources that an ISI spy was operating from the Embassy.

Acting on the information, UP ATS questioned Siwal, who initially gave unsatisfactory answers. However, later he confessed to spying and was arrested in Meerut.
Siwal was allegedly extracting confidential documents by exploiting his position within the Indian Embassy. Motivated by greed for money, he extracted critical information about the Indian Army and its day-to-day functioning.

Additionally, he also passed critical information concerning the strategic activities of the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of External Affairs, and Indian military establishments to ISI handlers.

The entertainment industry is mourning the loss of actress and model Poonam Pandey, who passed away on Friday morning after a battle with cervical cancer. She was 32 years old.

The news was confirmed by Pandey's team through a statement posted on her official Instagram handle. "This morning is a tough one for us," the statement read. "Deeply saddened to inform you that we have lost our beloved Poonam to cervical cancer. Every living form that ever came in contact with her was met with pure love and kindness. In this time of grief, we would request for privacy while we remember her fondly for all that we shared."

Pandey rose to fame in 2011 after her controversial statement during the ICC Cricket World Cup. She later went on to appear in several films and reality shows, including Bollywood movies like Nasha and Aa Gaya Hero and Kangana Ranaut's reality show Lock Upp.

The Madras High Court on Tuesday directed the Tamil Nadu HR&CE department to install boards in all Hindu temples stating non-Hindus were not permitted beyond the 'Kodimaram' (flagpole) area in the respective shrines and said Hindus also have fundamental right to profess and practice their religion.

Justice S Srimathy of the HC's Madurai Bench gave the judgement while hearing a plea from D Senthilkumar, who sought directions to the respondents to permit Hindus alone to the Arulmigu Palani Dhandayuthapani Swamy temple and its sub temples. He also wanted that display boards to that effect in all entrances be set up.

The famous Lord Murugan temple is located in Palani in Dindigul district.

The respondents were the Tamil Nadu government, represented by Principal Secretary, Department of Tourism, Culture and Religious Endowments, The Commissioner, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department (HR&CE) and the Executive Officer of the Palani temple.

The HR&CE department administers Hindu temples in Tamil Nadu.

Admitting the petition, the court directed the respondents to install boards indicating "non-Hindus are not allowed inside temple after Kodimaram" in the entrance of the temples, near the flagpole and at prominent places in the shrine.
