The lightning almost takes away their sight. Whenever it flashes before them, they walk in it, and when darkness covers them, they stand still. If Allah had willed, He could have taken away their hearing and their sight. Allah is over all things powerful.

يَكَادُ الْبَرْقُ يَخْطَفُ اَبْصَارَهُمْؕ كُلَّمَاۤ اَضَاءَ لَهُمْ مَّشَوْا فِيْهِۙ وَاِذَاۤ اَظْلمَ عَلَيْهِمْ قَامُوْاؕ وَلَوْ شَآءَ اللّٰهُ لَذَهَبَ بِسَمْعِهِمْ وَاَبْصَارِهِمْ‌ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ

Or like a thick cloud from the sky, about to rain - in which is darkness, thunder and lightning - a shock. They put their fingers in their ears, fearing death at the sound of thunder. Allah encompasses the disbelievers.
