A market managed and operated entirely by indigenous Karbi women in Assam's Kaliabor is gaining recognition as a model of community-driven entrepreneurship and women's empowerment. Located at Deosur Chang along National Highway 715 near Kaziranga National Park, the market has become a popular stop for travellers, tourists and local residents. Strategically positioned on a key route connecting Upper Assam and Lower Assam, it provides local women with opportunities to earn a livelihood while showcasing traditional agricultural produce and indigenous food items. The initiative has helped strengthen economic participation among women and promote local culture and sustainable livelihoods.
