BJP MP and actor Ravi Kishan on Wednesday (July 30) demanded that the government formulate a law to regulate the prices and quantity of food items served from dhabas to five-star hotels.
"I still don’t understand why we get a samosa on a small plate in some place and on a big plate in some other place for the same price. Such a vast market with crores of customers is operating without any rules or regulations," Ravi Kishan said in the Lok Sabha.
During zero hour in the Lok Sabha, the BJP MP from Gorakhpur said the prices, quality and quantity of food items are different everywhere and a uniformity is needed.
He also informed about the lack of uniformity in the prices and quantities of food items across the country, Ravi Kishan said, "Dal Tadka is available for Rs 100 at some outlets, Rs 120 at others, and Rs 1,000 in some hotels."
"In the last 11 years, PM Modi has brought in many transformative changes, but this segment has not got its due attention. Therefore, I demand that the government bring a law to regulate the prices of food items, their quality and quantity, so that customers get them at affordable prices," the BJP MP added.
Meanwhile, Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput mocked the actor-turned politician and asked if he could also speak up to regulate the highly-priced samosas at 'airports run by PM Modi's friend Gautam Adani.'
"If you are brave enough, then you should question the rates of samosas at airports operated by Gautam Adani. If you cannot do that, then we will believe that you are afraid of Gautam Adani, who is a friend of Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Rajput said in a video shared on X.
