Assam MLA and Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah visited the hospital where the teenage girl injured in the recent Gangapur attack in Mukalmua is undergoing treatment and assured strict action against those responsible.

Speaking to reporters after meeting the victim and her family members, Baruah said the girl’s condition had improved compared to the previous day and that necessary blood arrangements had been made for her treatment. He also paid tribute to 19-year-old Madhurjya Barman, who lost his life in the attack, describing him as a bright student with immense potential.

“Love Jihad” in Brutal Mukalmua Attack? Student Leader Killed, Young Woman Critical.

Nalbari, Assam: A shocking incident in Gangapur under Mukalmua has sparked widespread outrage after a young student leader was brutally killed and a young woman critically injured in an alleged attack late Sunday night.

The deceased has been identified as Madhurjya Barman (19) of Balipathar, Chamata, while the injured woman is Mridumudra Deka (18) of Gangapur. According to reports, the duo was returning home from Nalbari town on a scooter when they were allegedly attacked by two individuals identified as Roj Ali and Ashik Ali.

Madhurjya Barman, who reportedly served as the Assistant General Secretary of the Paschim Nalbari Regional Students' Union, died on the spot due to severe injuries. Mridumudra Deka sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.

The brutal attack has created tension across the region, with residents and student organisations demanding immediate arrest of the accused and a fair investigation. While some groups have linked the incident to alleged “Love Jihad,” police have not confirmed any motive so far and stated that the matter remains under investigation.
