The wife of newly-wed Navy officer Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, who was killed in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on Tuesday (April 22), bid him a tearful farewell after his remains arrived in Delhi on Wednesday (April 23).
"We will be proud of him everyday, we should be proud of him," Himanshi, the Navy officer's wife, said as she broke down while bidding farewell to her husband.
The 26-year-old Indian Navy officer, who got married a few days ago and was on a honeymoon with his wife, was among the 26 victims of the horrific Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir.
Lieutenant Vinay Narwal from Haryana's Karnal was shot dead by terrorists while he was enjoying his first trip with his wife Himanshi in Pahalgam.
In a video that has gone viral following the attack, Himanshi was heard saying, "I was eating bhel puri with my husband. A person came and asked if he (Narwal) was Muslim. When he denied, the man shot him dead."
"He was married a few days ago. Everybody was happy," the deceased's neighbor Naresh Bansal told news agency ANI.
Lt Narwal had travelled to Kashmir following his marriage on April 16, with a reception held on April 19.
Posted in Kochi, Narwal had joined the Navy just two years ago.

In partnership with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has introduced a system that allows passengers to report lost or stolen phones through RailMadad portal or by dialing 139.

If the passengers do not wish to file an FIR, they can register a complaint on the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal.

The RPF’s zonal cyber cell will then register the complaint on the CEIR portal and block the device.

“Once the lost phone is detected with a new SIM card, the user of the device will be advised to return it to the nearest RPF post. The rightful owner must present supporting documents to reclaim the device,” Railways said in a statement.

In cases of non-compliance, the RPF can file an FIR and escalate the matter to the district police.

“Upon recovery, the complainant can request to unblock the phone via the CEIR portal, with assistance from RPF if needed,” it added.

The CEIR portal is a crucial digital tool designed to recover mobile phones by blocking, tracking and managing lost or stolen devices. By leveraging this platform, RPF will now be able to render lost/missing mobile phones unusable by blocking their IMEI numbers, thereby deterring illegal possession and resale of these devices.

This initiative will also facilitate the swift recovery of lost phones through advanced tracking capabilities.

The initiative follows the success of a pilot program conducted in the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) in May 2024. The experiment resulted in successful recovery of numerous lost mobile phones and apprehension of individuals involved in mobile theft.

With the expansion of this initiative across the country, the RPF is confident that it will significantly aid in the swift recovery of lost devices for railway passengers.
