The road leading to Pelling Skywalk, India’s first glass skywalk, and the renowned Chenrezig religious site in Gyalshing district has fallen into a severely dilapidated condition, raising concerns among tourists and drivers alike. Frequented by both domestic and international visitors, the route is riddled with potholes and damaged stretches, making travel difficult and potentially unsafe. Drivers and locals have urged the concerned authorities to undertake immediate repair and maintenance work to ensure smooth transportation and preserve Pelling’s reputation as one of Sikkim’s premier tourist destinations.

BJP State President Shri D.R. Thapa, accompanied by senior party executives, is on a daylong organisational visit to Geyzing District, today.

Enroute, the team offered prayers at Norbu Gang Monastery in Yuksom, praying for peace, harmony and prosperity in Sikkim.

Shri Thapa will hold organisational review meeting with district and mandal functionaries to assess booth-level preparedness, strengthen membership drives, and strategise for expanding the party’s grassroots presence ahead of upcoming programmes.

सिटिजन एक्सन पार्टी–सिक्किमको जिल्ला स्तरीय कार्यकर्ता सभा नाम्ची जिल्लाको मल्ली निर्वाचन क्षेत्रअन्तर्गत सुम्बुकको थर्पु वार्डमा पार्टी अध्यक्ष गणेश कुमार राईको अध्यक्षतामा सफलतापूर्वक सम्पन्न भयो।

सभालाई सम्बोधन गर्दै वक्ताहरूले लोकतन्त्र अभ्यास गरेको ५१ वर्षपछि पनि राज्यवासीहरूले वर्तमान सरकारको कार्यशैलीका कारण लोकतान्त्रिक अधिकारहरू कमजोर भएको अनुभूति गरिरहेको बताए। उनीहरूले राज्यको अव्यवस्थित प्रशासन, ग्रामीण अर्थतन्त्रमा परेको नकारात्मक प्रभाव, राज्यकोषीय संकट तथा स्वास्थ्य सेवाको निराशाजनक अवस्थाप्रति चिन्ता व्यक्त गरे। साथै, आम नागरिकमाथि अन्याय हुँदा सरकारले आफ्ना कमजोरी लुकाउन उच्चस्तरीय समिति गठन गरी पीडितलाई न्यायबाट वञ्चित राख्ने प्रयास गरिरहेको आरोप लगाए।

सभालाई कमला राई, गोपी चौहान, भीम सुन्दास, महेश राई, बिना शर्मा, देवराज राई, बिमल खरेल, किरण जिम्बा, स्टीफन गुरुङ, दीपेन्द्र राईलगायत पार्टीका नेताहरूले सम्बोधन गरेका थिए।

अध्यक्षीय सम्बोधनका क्रममा गणेश कुमार राईले सिटिजन एक्सन पार्टी–सिक्किम जनताको गरिमा र भविष्यको रक्षा गर्न स्थापना गरिएको पार्टी भएको बताए। उनले अवहेलित, अन्यायपीडित तथा उपेक्षित नागरिकहरूको पक्षमा उभिने, सुशासन स्थापना गर्ने, समान न्याय सुनिश्चित गर्ने तथा नातावाद र परिवारवादको अन्त्य गरी युवाहरूलाई अवसर प्रदान गर्ने उद्देश्यसहित पार्टीको स्थापना भएको जानकारी दिए।

उनले विपक्षी दललाई सानो स्तरको कार्यकर्ता सभा आयोजना गर्न तथा माइक प्रयोग गर्न समेत अनुमति नदिनु सत्तारूढ दल सिटिजन एक्सन पार्टी–सिक्किमसँग डराएको प्रमाण भएको दाबी गरे। साथै, राजनीतिक विकृतिका कारण राज्यवासीहरूले दुःख भोग्नुपरेको उल्लेख गर्दै दादागिरी र लोकतन्त्रविरोधी प्रवृत्तिको अन्त्य गरी विधि र कानुनअनुसार चल्ने सरकार स्थापना गर्ने प्रतिबद्धता व्यक्त गरे।

उनका अनुसार सिटिजन एक्सन पार्टी–सिक्किम वैचारिक धरातलमा उभिएको संगठन हो, जसले आम जनतालाई प्रेरणा र नेतृत्व प्रदान गर्ने लक्ष्य राखेको छ। लोकतन्त्र स्थापनापछि केवल पार्टी र नेताहरू मात्र होइन, अब जनताले पनि जित्नुपर्ने अवधारणासहित पार्टी अघि बढिरहेको उनले बताए। तानाशाही र हिंसात्मक राजनीतिले जनताको हित नगर्ने तथा त्यस्तो प्रवृत्तिले राज्यको अधोगति निम्त्याउने चेतावनी समेत उनले दिए।

राज्यवासीहरूले ग्यास सिलिन्डरको समस्या भोगिरहेको वर्तमान अवस्थामा अध्ययनरत विद्यार्थी तथा आम नागरिकलाई निःशुल्क विद्युत् अनि इन्डक्सन उपलब्ध गराउने सुझाव पनि उनले प्रस्तुत गरे।

अन्त्यमा, गणेश कुमार राईले सिक्किमका जनतालाई सशक्त बनाउन तथा सकारात्मक राजनीतिको वात पक्षमा निर्भीक रूपमा अघि आउन आह्वान गरे।

HAS EXTENDED HIS SUPPORT TO SCHOOL WITH 25000/(TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND) WHILE COMING TO SIKKIM ON HIS VISIT ON 19.10.2025 THROUGH NEFT.

One of the golden hearted south Indian Tourist has extended his financial support to our Government Secondary school Rimbik, Gyalshing District West Sikkim with Rs.25000/(Twenty Five Thousand) while seeing the good practices of the school despite many challenges.He appreciated all the efforts that took by the school Headmaster and his Staffs for the welfare and betterment of the students.
Mr Raghunath Iyer is an electrical engineer and a Computer Scientist from IIT(Mumbai).He is actively involved in product designing combining hardware and software that have touched many users.Raghu is a senior tech savvy entrepreneur with expertise spanning embedded systems,cyber/network security,ASICS and semiconductors, networking and server platforms, clouds computing.He has over 40 years of experience.He has a proven track record in building high performance teams and delivering cutting edge products in office automation,cad software, Application Specific Integrated Circuits(ASICs) and Software for networking and security.He has founded and led three startups,two of them with roots in Silicon Valley,CA,USA.
Raghu is a versatile individual and indulges in a bit of everything ranging from masonry, carpentry, plumbing, fixing ipods and even camera lenses.He has a tool kit ready for all occasions that keeps the D-I-Y streaks alive in him.Raghu manages to wriggle out of his super- busy life to indulge in bird-watching, tracking, photography and cycling.He keen interest in wilderness takes him to various places and he wishes to do his bit in keeping the pristine nature unspoilt.Raghu is also well versed with South Indian and western classical music,plays the Veena and Piona.School Headmaster, Teaching and Non-Teaching staff and students, School Management Committee and School Alumni Association are really thankful to respected Raghunathji for this genuine support to school.We wish him for his longevity, success and happiness.May God shower upon his blessings always.

YUKSAM, SIKKIM — May 26, 2026: Shri A. Hemochandra, Deputy Inspector General, Sector Headquarters Sashastra Seema Bal, Gangtok, successfully concluded a comprehensive two-day formal operational inspection of the 72nd Battalion, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), stationed at Yuksam, Sikkim. The high-profile visit, spanning May 25 and May 26, 2026, aimed to evaluate operational efficacy, strategic border preparedness, and the overall administrative welfare of the troops deployed along the critical border areas.The official itinerary commenced on May 25, 2026, with the dignitary’s visit to the Supakha Company (CoY) of the 72nd Battalion. During this forward deployment review, Shri Hemochandra rigorously assessed the localized security apparatus, reinforcement protocols, and structural readiness. Following an exhaustive on-site evaluation, the Deputy Inspector General observed a night halt at the forward location to closely monitor night-vigil mechanisms and interact intimately with the personnel.On the morning of May 26, 2026, the inspection party arrived at the Battalion Headquarters in Yuksam. Shri Jai Prakash, Commandant of the 72nd Battalion, extended a warm and traditional welcome to the main guest by presenting a ceremonial bouquet. Marking the gravity of the occasion, a highly disciplined and immaculate contingent of the battalion presented a grand 'Guard of Honour' at the Armory complex, honoring the visiting dignitary with a full protocol salute.A closed-door review meeting was chaired by the Deputy Inspector General to evaluate border security dynamics, intelligence-sharing frameworks, tactical responsiveness, and operational readiness along the sensitive international borders.Emphasizing the force’s commitment to ecological preservation, Shri Hemochandra participated in a ceremonial tree plantation drive within the green belt of the battalion headquarters.The dignitary addressed a specially convened 'Sainik Sammelan', where he commended the troops for their unwavering dedication and resilience. He infused fresh operational energy into the rank and file, exhorting them to maintain absolute alertness, highest standards of integrity, and selfless service to the nation.The inspection culminated with the time-honored military tradition of 'Bada Khana' (grand community feast). Shri Hemochandra, along with Commandant Shri Jai Prakash and other officers, dined with the jawans, boosting collective morale and fostering deep institutional camaraderie.Following the successful completion of all operational and welfare reviews, leaving behind an inspired, highly motivated, and vigilant contingent, the Deputy Inspector General and his accompanying staff departed for the Sector Headquarters in Gangtok later this afternoon.
