Festivities and Football Thrills Mark Eighth Day of Dentam School's Centenary
DENTAM, October 17 – The historic Centenary Celebration at PM SHRI Government Senior Secondary School, Dentam, continued with great enthusiasm on its eighth day, featuring both formal ceremonies and thrilling sporting action.
The program was honored by the presence of Mr. LN Sharma, Advisor for PHE & WRD, as the Chief Guest, accompanied by Area MLA Mr. Sudesh Kumar S***a and other dignitaries. Upon arrival, they were warmly welcomed by Principal Ms. Rajya Shree Limboo and the school community before touring an exhibition of innovative student projects.
In his address, Mr. Sharma congratulated the school on its 100-year milestone and urged students to carry the institution's legacy forward. He advised them to remain focused and disciplined, explore diverse careers, and contribute to nation-building. Praising teachers as "true nation-builders," he also highlighted the state government's commitment to advancing education under Chief Minister Mr. PS Golay.
The day's celebrations were further enlivened by vibrant cultural performances and high-stakes sports. A major highlight was the second semi-final of the Men's Open Football Tournament, which saw a tense showdown between Hope Dentam and Hee United. After a goalless draw in full time, the match was decided by a tie-breaker, where Hope Dentam emerged victorious.
The win sets the stage for a highly anticipated final, where Hope Dentam will face Karmatar Mega Boys.
The combined events drew a large crowd of officials, alumni, and local residents, adding another memorable chapter to the school’s century-long journey.
