Maneybong Dentam Gears Up for Second Chiwabhanjyang 10K Trial Run

A significant preparatory meeting for the upcoming Second Edition of the Chiwabhanjyang 10K Trial Run, scheduled for November 2, 2025, was held at Uttarey today. The meeting brought together government officials, local bodies, and tourism stakeholders, reflecting a collective commitment to promote sports tourism in Maneybong Dentam constituency.
Presiding over the meeting, Hon’ble MLA Shri Sudesh Kumar S***a underscored the importance of a trial run, describing it as a vital “test” for any new initiative before its full-scale implementation. He stressed that the event is not only a sporting endeavour but also a broader effort to promote adventure tourism in the region while channeling youth energy towards positive pursuits, keeping them away from social and psychological challenges such as depression.
Acknowledging the logistical challenges faced in the previous edition, the Hon’ble MLA called upon all concerned departments and committees to address shortcomings and ensure smooth coordination for a more successful event this year. He highlighted that the development of Maneybong Dentam as a preferred tourist destination has been possible under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) and the strong political will at the constituency level.
The meeting also recognized the multi-pronged tourism strategy of the Government of Sikkim, which promotes cultural, religious, rural, and adventure tourism. The addition of sports tourism through the Chiwabhanjyang Trial Run further enriches this vision. The cooperation of the Dentam Tourism Development Society was also commended for supporting government initiatives.
The meeting saw the presence of Hon’ble Advisor to HCM Shri Birendra Tamling, Hon’ble Advisor Commerce and Industry Department Shri Sher Man Tamling, Hon’ble Advisor Sikkim Cooperative Milk Producers Limited Shri Purna Hang S***a, Hon’ble Advisor Mining and Geology Department Shri A.B Thapa, Hon’ble Chairman SABCCO Shri J.B Tamling, Member SSTRB Shri G.R Khulal, OSD to HMLA Shri Dewash Rai, SDM Dentam Shri N.K Karki, representatives from the 36th and 72nd Battalion SSB, Police Department, Health Department, Panchayat members, local tourism stakeholders, general public, and legendary marathoner Shri Amar S***a.
With the date now finalized, preparations are underway to ensure that the Chiwabhanjyang 10K Trial Run 2025 is bigger, better, and firmly establishes Dentam on the sports tourism map of Sikkim.
