OPINION : The Single Window Integrated Permit System may not be in the best interest of the people of Sikkim. The permit issuing process could become highly centralised, creating a significant risk of monopoly, lack of transparency, and arbitrary decision making in the issuance of permits.
The Government of Sikkim has still not made it clear whether it will operate the Integrated Permit System directly or bring in a private player to manage the system.
Where is the accountability of the Atithi App, which is controlled by a private player? Who is responsible for monitoring its functioning and ensuring transparency and accountability?
Another important question is: How much revenue does the Tourism Department generate through the TDS fund, and where is this revenue being utilised?
The unilateral decision to rapidly increase vehicle charges could jeopardise the tourism sector in the long run.
In the name of an integrated Single Window Permit System, we do not want to lose our ownership and control over Sikkim's tourism sector. The system must ensure transparency, accountability, fair access, and protection of the interests of local stakeholders.

Awareness Programme on Modern Dairy Farming Held at Hee-Yangthang SSS on International Youth Day

Geyzing, August 12: On the occasion of International Youth Day, an awareness programme on modern dairy farming and entrepreneurship was organised today at Hee-Yangthang Senior Secondary School, with the objective of encouraging students and young people to explore dairy farming as a viable and sustainable career and business opportunity.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Principal Mr. Narayan Basnet, with the active participation of students and teachers of the school. Mr. Dipesh Khatiwada, who attended the programme as the resource person, shared valuable insights on modern dairy farming, scientific livestock management, business planning, income generation and entrepreneurship.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Khatiwada highlighted the growing tendency among educated youth to seek salaried employment after completing their studies. He stressed the need to move beyond the mindset of merely looking for jobs and instead focus on becoming job creators and successful entrepreneurs.

He introduced the students to the modern model of dairy farming, explaining how traditional cattle rearing can be transformed into a profitable commercial enterprise through scientific methods, proper management and the use of modern technology. Sharing his own experience as an example, he encouraged young people to consider dairy farming not merely as a traditional occupation but as a promising business with significant economic potential.

The programme also covered various scientific aspects of modern dairy farming, including selection of improved cattle breeds, scientific breeding, balanced nutrition, clean drinking water, proper housing, regular vaccination and veterinary care, hygienic milking practices, modern milking equipment and proper storage and cooling of milk.

The resource person further explained that dairy farmers can increase their income by producing value-added products such as curd, ghee, paneer, chhurpi and other dairy products, rather than depending solely on the sale of fresh milk. Proper record keeping, market assessment, cost and income management, digital technology and effective utilisation of government and cooperative support were also highlighted as important components of a successful dairy enterprise.

He also emphasised that animal waste can be effectively utilised for producing organic manure and biogas, creating additional economic and environmental benefits. With proper planning, modern technology and a business-oriented approach, even a small dairy farm can gradually be expanded into a larger and sustainable enterprise.

Mr. Khatiwada urged the students to develop a positive attitude towards agriculture and livestock-based businesses and to recognise that education should not only prepare young people to seek employment but also equip them with the knowledge, skills and confidence to create employment opportunities for others.

The programme was organised in the spirit of International Youth Day with a focus on youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, self-reliance and employment generation. It provided students with practical knowledge and a new perspective on dairy farming as a potential career and business opportunity.

The awareness programme concluded with the message that educated and skilled youth can contribute significantly to economic development by embracing modern agriculture, adopting innovative technologies and becoming entrepreneurs rather than merely job seekers.

मार्ताम नेयभिर शिवालय मन्दिरमा सावन पूजा भव्य रूपमा सम्पन्न

ग्याल्सिङ, १० अगस्त २०२६। मार्ताम नेयभिर शिवालय मन्दिर व्यवस्थापन समिति तथा पूजा समितिको आयोजनामा ग्याल्सिङ जिल्ला, पश्चिम सिक्किमको मार्ताम–राफोङस्थित नेयभिर शिवालय मन्दिर (महादेवस्थान) मा सावन पूजा आज भव्य रूपमा सम्पन्न भएको छ।

यस वर्षको सावन पूजा ४ जुलाई २०२६ देखि प्रारम्भ भई सावन महिनाभरि प्रत्येक सोमबार नियमित रूपमा सञ्चालन गरिएको थियो। आज सावन महिनाको अन्तिम सोमबारको अवसरमा भगवान् शिवलाई पवित्र जलद्वारा जलाभिषेक गर्नुका साथै हवनसहित विधिपूर्वक पूजा–अर्चना गरिएको थियो। पूजामार्फत सम्पूर्ण भक्तजन तथा समुदायको शान्ति, समृद्धि, सुस्वास्थ्य, सुख तथा मंगलमय जीवनको कामना गरिएको थियो।

कार्यक्रमको शुभारम्भ बिहान ५:०० बजे साई समिति, ही–बजारका बालबालिका तथा विद्यार्थीहरूद्वारा सार्वभौमिक प्रार्थना तथा भजन प्रस्तुत गर्दै गरिएको थियो। उक्त प्रार्थना तथा भजन कार्यक्रमको नेतृत्व श्री एस. बी. सुब्बाले गर्नुभएको थियो।

समापन समारोहमा पूर्व मन्त्री तथा विधायक श्री एन. के. सुब्बा, एडीसी (डेभलपमेन्ट), आरडीडी, ग्याल्सिङका श्री सुरत कुमार गुरुङ, माननीय जिल्ला पञ्चायत सदस्य श्रीमती धनमाया छेत्री, ज्येष्ठ नागरिकहरू, सरकारी अधिकारीहरू, स्थानीय युवाहरू तथा मार्ताम र आसपासका गाउँहरूबाट ठूलो संख्यामा भक्तजनहरूको उपस्थिति रहेको थियो।
यसै अवसरमा मन्दिर व्यवस्थापन समितिको आयोजनामा अध्यक्ष श्री डी. एस. कुँवरको अध्यक्षतामा समापन सभा पनि सम्पन्न भएको थियो। सभामा कोषाध्यक्ष सुश्री प्रेमिका छेत्रीले सावन पूजासँग सम्बन्धित सम्पूर्ण आय–व्यय तथा लेखा–जोखा प्रस्तुत गर्नुभएको थियो।

सभामा सावन पूजा आयोजनाको उद्देश्य, मन्दिरको चौतर्फी विकास तथा संरक्षण, साथै मन्दिर व्यवस्थापन समितिको वर्तमान कार्ययोजना र भावी योजनाका विषयमा उपाध्यक्ष श्री आर. बी. राई तथा अध्यक्ष श्री डी. एस. कुँवरले महत्वपूर्ण मन्तव्य राख्नुभएको थियो।

समापन सभा महासचिव श्री विष्णु राज राईले सञ्चालन गर्नुभएको थियो। पूजा समिति अध्यक्ष श्री एल. टी. लेप्चाले धन्यवाद ज्ञापन गरेपछि सभा औपचारिक रूपमा सम्पन्न भएको थियो।

सावन पूजा सफलतापूर्वक सम्पन्न गर्न आफ्नो अमूल्य समय, सहयोग, सेवा, श्रम तथा श्रद्धा अर्पण गर्नुहुने सम्पूर्ण भक्तजन, स्वयंसेवक, ज्येष्ठ नागरिक, युवा, बालबालिका, सरकारी अधिकारी, स्थानीयवासी तथा शुभेच्छुकहरूप्रति मार्ताम नेयभिर शिवालय मन्दिर व्यवस्थापन समिति तथा पूजा समितिको तर्फबाट हार्दिक आभार तथा धन्यवाद व्यक्त गरिएको छ।

Gyalshing, August 10: As Sawan draws to a close, devotees gathered at Aaley Neybhir Shivalaya Mandir in Martam–Rafong, Gyalshing district, West Sikkim, on the last Monday of the holy month, offering prayers and performing Jalabhishek to Lord Shiva.

A group from Hee Gaon Bal Bikash Centre also joined the morning prayers with Bhajan, adding to the devotional atmosphere at the temple.

The Mandir Committee made necessary arrangements to ensure devotees could have a smooth and peaceful darshan.

३०–पेचेरेक ही पाताल ग्राम पञ्चायत इकाईमा महिला सभा सम्पन्न

ग्यालसिङ, २९ जुलाई: ३०–पेचेरेक ही पाताल ग्राम पञ्चायत इकाई, बीएसी ही मार्ताम, ग्यालसिङ जिल्ला, पश्चिम सिक्किममा महिला स्वयं सहायता समूह (SHG) का सदस्यहरू, पञ्चायती राज संस्थाका (PRI) जनप्रतिनिधिहरू, सरकारी अधिकारीहरू तथा स्थानीय समुदायका सदस्यहरूको सहभागितामा महिला सभा सम्पन्न भएको छ।

महिलाहरूलाई आफ्ना विचार अभिव्यक्त गर्ने अवसर प्रदान गर्नु, स्थानीय समस्यामाथि छलफल गर्नु तथा महिला सशक्तीकरण र समावेशी स्थानीय सुशासनलाई प्रवर्द्धन गर्नु कार्यक्रमको मुख्य उद्देश्य रहेको थियो।

कार्यक्रमको उद्घाटन सिक्किम सरकारका समाननीय मुख्यमन्त्रीका कानुनी सल्लाहकार तथा मुख्य अतिथि श्रीमती पूजा लामिछानेले दीप प्रज्वलन गरी गर्नुभयो। कार्यक्रममा माननीय जिल्ला पञ्चायत सदस्य श्रीमती धन माया क्षेत्री, श्रीमती इन्द्र कला क्षेत्री, ओएसडी, पञ्चायती राज विभाग, श्री कुमार राई, सहायक निर्देशक (पञ्चायती राज), पञ्चायत प्रतिनिधि, एसएचजी महासंघका सदस्य तथा अन्य सरोकारवालाहरूको उपस्थिति रहेको थियो।

कार्यक्रममा महिला तथा स्वयं सहायता समूहका सदस्यहरूले स्थानीय विकाससम्बन्धी विभिन्न समस्या, सुझाव तथा आवश्यकताहरू प्रस्तुत गर्दै गाउँ गरिबी न्यूनीकरण योजना (VPRP) हरू ग्राम पञ्चायत विकास योजना (GPDP) मा समावेश गर्न पेश गरेका थिए।

कार्यक्रमका वक्ताहरूले महिला सशक्तीकरण, नेतृत्व विकास, कानुनी सचेतना, सरकारी योजना, People's Plan Campaign, दिगो विकास लक्ष्य (SDGs), महिला मैत्री ग्राम पञ्चायत तथा पञ्चायत एड्भान्समेन्ट इन्डेक्स (PAI) सम्बन्धी जानकारी दिँदै स्थानीय विकासमा महिलाको सक्रिय सहभागिताको आवश्यकतामा जोड दिएका थिए।
यस अवसरमा समुदाय विकास तथा महिला सशक्तीकरणमा उत्कृष्ट योगदान पुर्‍याउने पाँच जना सक्रिय स्वयं सहायता समूह (SHG) सदस्यहरूलाई प्रशंसापत्र प्रदान गरी सम्मान गरिएको थियो।

कार्यक्रमको सञ्चालन श्री विष्णु राज राई (VAA) ले गर्नुभएको थियो भने अन्त्यमा श्रीमती मीमाकी भुटियाले धन्यवाद ज्ञापन गर्नुभयो।

आमाको सम्मान जन उन-मुक्तिको अभिमान

आमा केवल एउटा शब्द होइन, सम्पूर्ण जीवनको आधार हो। उहाँको माया, त्याग, ममता र समर्पणको कुनै मूल्य हुँदैन। हामीलाई जन्म दिने, हुर्काउने, दुःखमा साथ दिने र सफलताको बाटो देखाउने पहिलो गुरु नै आमा हुनुहुन्छ।

आमाले आफ्ना सन्तानको खुसीका लागि आफ्ना अनगिन्ती चाहना र सपनाहरू त्याग्नुहुन्छ। सन्तानको अनुहारमा मुस्कान देख्न उहाँले आफ्ना आँसु लुकाउनुहुन्छ। उहाँको ममता निस्वार्थ हुन्छ, जसमा कुनै स्वार्थ, कुनै अपेक्षा र कुनै सर्त हुँदैन। त्यसैले संसारमा आमाको स्थान कसैले लिन सक्दैन।

आमाको सम्मान केवल विशेष दिनमा फूल वा उपहार दिएर मात्र पूरा हुँदैन। उहाँका भावना बुझ्नु, आदरपूर्वक बोल्नु, उहाँको सेवा गर्नु, उहाँको स्वास्थ्यप्रति ध्यान दिनु र उहाँलाई खुसी राख्नु नै साँचो सम्मान हो। आमाले सिकाएका असल संस्कारलाई जीवनमा उतार्नु पनि उहाँप्रतिको उच्च सम्मान हो।

समय बित्दै जाँदा मानिस धेरै व्यस्त बन्छ, तर आमाका लागि केही समय निकालेर उहाँसँग बसेर दुई शब्द प्रेमका साथ बोलिदिनु नै उहाँका लागि सबैभन्दा ठूलो उपहार हुन सक्छ। आमाको आशीर्वादले जीवनमा आत्मविश्वास, शक्ति र सफलताको मार्ग प्रशस्त गर्छ।

हामी सबैले आफ्नी आमाको सम्मान गरौँ, उहाँको त्यागको कदर गरौँ र उहाँलाई सधैं माया, आदर र अपनत्व दिऔँ। किनकि आमाको ममता जति गहिरो हुन्छ, त्यति नै उज्यालो हाम्रो जीवन बन्छ। आमा हुनुहुन्छ भने घरमा माया हुन्छ, परिवारमा एकता हुन्छ र जीवनमा आशाको उज्यालो कहिल्यै मर्दैन।

*"आमाको सम्मान गर्नु भनेको मानवताको सम्मान गर्नु हो, र आमाको आशीर्वाद नै जीवनको सबैभन्दा अमूल्य सम्पत्ति हो।"*

यस महान् भावनालाई आत्मसात् गर्दै सिक्किमका लोकप्रिय मुख्यमन्त्री श्रीमान प्रेम सिंह तामाङ गोलेज्यूले आफ्नो जीवनको संघर्षसँग जोडिएको ऐतिहासिक दिन, जुन दिन उहाँ झुटा आरोपमा कारावास भोगेर मुक्त हुनुभएको थियो र जसलाई सम्पूर्ण सिक्किमेली जनताले *"जन उन-मुक्ति दिवस"* का रूपमा १० अगस्तलाई मनाउँदै आएका छन्, सोही दिनलाई विगत वर्षदेखि *"आमा सम्मान दिवस"* का रूपमा पनि घोषणा गर्नुभएको छ।

आमाप्रतिको सम्मान, कृतज्ञता र सामाजिक सुरक्षालाई केन्द्रमा राखेर गरिएको यो निर्णय अत्यन्तै दूरदर्शी र मानवताप्रेमी पहल हो। यस कार्यक्रमअन्तर्गत सिक्किमभरिका करिब *३२ हजार आमाहरूलाई*
प्रत्येक वर्ष सरकारी कोषबाट *रु ४० हजार* (दुई किस्तामा) सम्मानस्वरूप प्रदान गरिँदै आएको छ। यस सहयोगले हजारौं आमाहरूको दैनिक जीवनमा आर्थिक राहत पुग्नुका साथै उहाँहरूको आत्मसम्मान र आत्मविश्वासलाई अझ सुदृढ बनाएको छ।

आमाको त्याग, ममता र समर्पणप्रति राज्यस्तरबाट गरिएको यस्तो सम्माननीय पहल वास्तवमै अनुकरणीय छ। यस महान् सोच र कार्यका लागि सिक्किमका सम्माननीय मुख्यमन्त्री श्रीमान प्रेम सिंह तामाङ गोलेज्यूप्रति हार्दिक कृतज्ञता व्यक्त गर्दछु। उहाँको नेतृत्वमा यस्ता जनमुखी र मानवीय कार्यक्रमहरू निरन्तर अघि बढून् भन्ने शुभकामना व्यक्त गर्दछु।
