World Environment Day 2026 Celebrated at Tashiding Senior Secondary School

Tashiding Senior Secondary School celebrated World Environment Day on 5th June 2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation from students, teachers, and staff. The programme was organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS) in collaboration with the Eco Club and Red Ribbon Club under the theme “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.” The celebration aimed to raise awareness about environmental conservation, climate action, biodiversity protection, and sustainable living practices.

The programme commenced with a special morning assembly conducted by Ayush Dahal of Class XII. During the assembly, students were sensitized to the importance of protecting the environment and adopting eco-friendly habits in their daily lives. An informative and engaging environmental quiz was conducted by Kinchok Tenzing Bhutia, which tested students’ knowledge on environmental issues, climate change, biodiversity, pollution, and sustainable development. The quiz served as an effective platform for spreading awareness and encouraging students to become environmentally conscious citizens.

A major highlight of the celebration was the plantation drive, led by the respected Principal, Shri Tara Prasad Dahal, along with senior teachers and staff members. Various fruit-bearing trees and other plant species were planted within and around the school campus. This initiative emphasized the importance of increasing green cover, preserving biodiversity, and contributing to a healthier environment for future generations.

To promote creativity and environmental awareness, a Painting Competition was organized for both the Junior and Senior Sections. Students enthusiastically participated and expressed their ideas through beautiful artworks based on the themes Climate Change, Plastic Pollution, and Sustainability. The competition encouraged students to reflect on current environmental challenges and explore solutions through artistic expression.

In addition, a cleanliness drive was carried out across the school premises. Students and teachers actively participated in cleaning the campus and its surroundings, reinforcing the message of maintaining a clean and healthy environment. The activity highlighted the need for proper waste management and reducing plastic pollution to protect nature.

The celebration concluded with a pledge to safeguard the environment and work collectively towards a sustainable future. Through awareness programmes, plantation activities, creative competitions, and cleanliness initiatives, the event successfully inspired students to become responsible stewards of the environment and contribute positively towards climate action and biodiversity conservation.

“Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”
Let us protect our environment today for a greener and healthier tomorrow.
