Hmar Inpui Assam Hills Region organised a thanksgiving programme today at the C.H. Khawthlang Memorial Hall, Muolhoi, to mark the formation of the Hmar Welfare & Development Council (HWDC).
The programme began at 11:00 AM with the unveiling of the commemorative stone of the Hmar Welfare & Development Council by Pu Zosumthang Hmar, Executive Member of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC). This was followed by the unfurling of the Hmar Inpui flag by Pu Roger Joute, former Chairman of HPC (D) Assam Region.
The programme was conducted by Upa Manthang Parate and CH. Varte, Secretaries of Hmar Inpui Assam Hills Region, while Rev. Lalhmunsang F. Tusing offered the opening prayer.
Delivering the welcome address, Upa Drarrova Darngawn, President of Hmar Inpui Assam Hills Region, expressed gratitude to all leaders, organisations, and community members for their support and cooperation towards peace, unity, and development in the region.
The thanksgiving programme also featured colourful cultural dance performances presented by different cultural groups, showcasing the rich traditions, unity, and heritage of the community.
Leaders and representatives from various organisations and communities, including Kuki Inpi Assam, Biate Devanpui, Vaiphei Peoples’ Council Assam, Hrangkhol community leaders, Hmar Inpui General Headquarters, ISF, MVC, and other organisations attended the programme and conveyed their greetings and support for the newly formed HWDC.
A felicitation programme was also held in honour of HPC (D) cadres and apex bodies for their contributions towards the peace process.
Rev. Kawthanglien Infimate, Adviser of Hmar Inpui Assam Hills Region, delivered the vote of thanks.
The programme concluded peacefully with the participation of community leaders, church representatives, social organisations, youth bodies, and members of the public from different parts of the Assam Hills Region.
