BJP Assam State President Holds Crucial Meeting with Dima Hasao BJP Leaders.

In a recent development, the BJP Assam state president held a meeting with two groups of BJP members from the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) at Guwahati today.

The meeting aimed to address internal conflicts within the party.

The BJP had a resounding victory in the NCHAC elections, winning 25 out of 28 seats in January. This victory showcased the party's stronghold in the region, with the remaining three seats going to independent candidates (Later Joined BJP).

However, it appears that internal rifts have emerged within the party. The meeting between the state president and the two groups of BJP members suggests an attempt to bridge the gaps and resolve differences. While specific details about the nature of the rift are scarce, it's clear that the party leadership is working to maintain unity.

The outcome of the meeting and the party's strategy to address internal conflicts remain to be seen. Nevertheless, the BJP's efforts to maintain unity will likely be crucial in ensuring the 2026 assembly election.

Haflong-Silchar Road Partially Reopened for Private Vehicles; Goods Transport Still Suspended

June 28, 2025 | Haflong, Assam

In a significant development for connectivity in South Assam, the Haflong-Silchar road has been partially reopened for traffic as of today, June 28. Private vehicles are now allowed to ply, bringing relief to local commuters and travelers. However, goods transportation remains suspended due to ongoing repair and safety concerns.

This comes in the aftermath of a massive landslide earlier this month, which had severely damaged stretches of the highway & Train Connectivity blocked completely cutting off South Assam and parts of the Northeast from the rest of the country. The landslide, had led to travel disruptions, stranded passengers, and a halt in the supply of essential commodities to the region.

While restoration work continues under challenging terrain and weather conditions, officials urge caution for all travelers, citing potential risks of further erosion and falling debris. The District Administration and NHIDCL are coordinating efforts to fully reopen the road to all forms of transport in the coming days.

Residents and local businesses continue to face hardships due to the halted movement of goods, but partial reopening is being seen as a step toward normalcy in the region.

Further updates will follow as the situation progresses.
