Lord Krishna explained the coming Kali Yuga to the Pandavas through four symbolic visions:
Arjuna saw a cuckoo eating a rabbit, representing priests exploiting devotees; Bhima saw overflowing wells and one dry one, symbolizing rich people hoarding wealth while the poor suffered; Nakula witnessed a cow excessively licking its calf to the point of injury, showing parents spoiling their children; and Sahadeva saw a large boulder stopped by a small plant, signifying that while people might destroy everything in their path to success, only chanting the name of God can provide liberation.
The Symbolic Visions
1. 1. Arjuna and the Cuckoo:
• Vision: A cuckoo singing sweetly and eating a rabbit.
• Meaning: In Kali Yuga, people in positions of authority, like priests and saints, will preach pleasant words but exploit and harm their followers.
2. 2. Bhima and the Wells:
• Vision: Five wells, four overflowing with water, but the central one completely dry.
• Meaning: The wealthy will hoard their massive fortunes, living in the same areas as the poor, but will be indifferent to the suffering of those in need.
3. 3. Nakula and the Cow:
• Vision: A mother cow licking its calf so much that it causes bleeding.
• Meaning: Parents in Kali Yuga will love their children too much, doting on and pampering them to the point of spoiling them and hindering their progress.
4. 4. Sahadeva and the Boulder:
• Vision: A large boulder rolling down a mountain, crushing everything in its path, but being stopped by a small plant.
• Meaning: While the character and ethics of people may be destroyed as they rush towards a dangerous end, the simple act of remembering and chanting the name of God (Harinama) can provide salvation and halt one's downfall.
The Message for the Pandavas (and us)
Krishna's explanations served as a foresight into the future, revealing the selfish, exploitative, and indulgent tendencies of people in Kali Yuga. However, he also offered a message of hope, showing that despite these challenges, there is a way to attain liberation and inner peace by focusing on faith and divine remembrance.

Glad to have a prepared information of the United Mikir & North Cachar Hills District

Our History
Last Updated on:
August 07, 2024
Hill Areas Department is the administrative Department of the two autonomous Councils i.e. Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) and North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC). Article 244(2) read with the Sixth Scheduled to the Constitution of India provides administration of tribal areas in the States of Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram.

The Government of India passed a bill in Lok Sabha in the year 1951 and Sri. Rajendra Prasad, His Excellency the President of India assented to the creation of United Mikir and North Cachar Hills District. The district of United Mikir and North Cachar Hills district was bifurcated into two separate districts under banner as "Mikir Hills" and North Cachar Hills district in the year 1970. The Mikir Hill district was again rechristened as "Karbi Anglong District" w.e.f. 14 October 1976 vide Govt. Notification No. TAD/R/115/74/47 Dtd. 14-10-1976. Thus Karbi Anglong came into being as a full fledged separate district in the map of Assam with its Head quarter at Diphu.

On 1 April 1996 the Karbi Anglong District Council was renamed as the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council [KAAC] by an Act of Parliament by incorporating into the Sixth Schedule in the Constitution (Amendment) Act, 1995 (42 of 1995) of the Constitution of India. Subsequently KAAC was accorded greater autonomy vide Govt. Notification No. HAD.57/95/63-64, dtd. 29.06.1995, by entrusting 30 (thirty) more departments.

North Cachar Hill District Council was set up on 29th April, 1952 and was later renamed as North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council on 13th September, 1995. Subsequently NCHAC was accorded greater autonomy vide Govt. Notification No. HAD.57/95/268-269, dtd. 25.09.1996, by entrusting 30 (thirty) more departments.

Both the Councils i.e. Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council are constituted and function under the Assam Autonomous Districts (Constitution of District Councils) Rules, 1951 (as amended).
