PM Modi Launches ₹5,100 Crore Projects in Arunachal, Emphasizes Development and Self-Reliance
Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday addressed a public gathering in Itanagar during the launch of development and infrastructure projects worth over ₹5,100 crore. The projects cover power, connectivity, tourism, and health sectors.
Marking the occasion on the first day of Navratri, Modi called it a spiritually significant day and celebrated the cultural value of the launch. Referring to Arunachal Pradesh as the “Land of the Rising Sun”, he praised its natural beauty and hardworking people while recalling how the state was long neglected by previous governments.
He criticized past administrations for ignoring the region because of its low number of parliamentary seats, and stressed that his government follows the principle of “Nation First, not votes first.” He reiterated the benefits of the double-engine model, where the Centre and state governments work together for faster progress.
Modi highlighted new infrastructure including highways and the Sela Tunnel, calling them evidence that good governance brings real results. He pointed to increased budgets for the North East, along with regular visits by ministers and bureaucrats to ensure last-mile delivery of government schemes.
Calling for self-reliance under Atmanirbhar Bharat, Modi urged people to use Swadeshi products and strengthen local industries. In a symbolic gesture, he asked the crowd to switch on their mobile flashlights, creating a wave of light to represent the bright future of Arunachal and India.
He also met with local traders, commending their support for GST reforms, and encouraged them to continue contributing to the nation’s growth. Extending Navratri greetings, Modi urged the people of Arunachal to keep working towards a developed and self-reliant India.
