Some more amazing stuff introduced by TASCAM.

I really love the form factor of this new field recorder. With 32 bit float recording and Timecode support, this could be a nice solution for cinematographers looking for a portable field studio recorder.

I guess zoom need to catch up fast :P

Unseen Beautiful Culture of Pangi Valley - Dakhrain Mela - Pangi EP8

With the confusion of the dates of Dakhrain Mela at Hudan Bhatori, I left from killar at around 8 AM. This mela was one of my major agenda item for this Pangi valley drive. hence I wanted to document it anyways possible.

With the rain last night, drive from Killar to Hudan via Takwas and Tundru was absolutely amazing and breathtaking. I was literally driving through the clouds at most part of the drive to Hudan.

I reached Hudan by 9:15 am and I was right on time. People were gathering at Hudan bhatori, getting ready to carry the deity to bheem taal for the prayers and festivals.

I left my other stuff at the homestay at Hudan Bhatori, and carried the bare essential camera items and walked with the procession all the way to bheem taal.

There I spend almost 6 hours recording the beautiful Pangwali and Bhotiya culture in the form dances, music, dresses, food etc.

at around 5 pm I left back for the homestay, had few cups of tea with host and then drove to the hudan monastery for making call back at home.

Did I miss Dakhrain Mela? - Drive from Chasak to Parmar Bhatori - Pangi Valley EP7

After a wonderful last night sleep at the homestay of Chasak Bhatori, it was a wonderful morning today. Early morning I took some time-lapses and walked around the village and talked to the locals.

Around 9AM we started our trek back to chasak village, which took me around 90mins this time. At chasak village I had tea and some food at my guide's house and then I left for Parmar Bhatori.

On the way I stopped at Sechu to buy some snacks and drinks and then drove non stop. The views were so beautiful that I missed the turn just before Sach village that takes you to Kumar and then Parmar Bhatori. and eventually ended up at Phindru, where dhaba owner sent me back to right route.

From Sach towards Kumar, there is a tarmac road for I guess 3 -4 km, and after that it all broken trail. On the way I checked the only homestay at Kumar and decided to take a call of staying here or not later.

I drove straight to Parmar Bhatori first and visited the monastery and then had a cup of tea at the lama ji's house. While talking to them, they told me that Dakhrain mela was today and not tomorrow, which shocked me. All this time I was planning for 18-19 July for the mela.

Finally I decided to drive back to Killar and reconfirm the dates.

Anyone interested in joining me for winter expedition to Ladakh this January 2025.
please READ till the end, before reacting
Its purely cost sharing basis.
I will be shooting videos on the winter life of Ladakh and will try to reach extreme corners of Ladakh, Kargil, Batalik and Zanskar.
You can shoot your own content, completely independently. I will do my shoot completely at my own. So no interference or dependency for content creation, on each other.
Most importantly , instead of tick marking the destination and places of Ladakh and zanskar, I will prefer 2-3 places and will spend 3-4 days at 3-4 locations only.
12-14 days
maximum 3 people, including myself.
Note this is not an organised tour, cost is whatever the actual cost. We plan together and execute it together, we all will be accountable for everything, good or bad.
We will share the taxi cost mostly. For accommodation I prefer to have independent room.
And its not a budget trip, so yes cost will be on higher side.
tentative plan :
3-4 days around Loma, Nyoma, Hanle
3-4 days around Batalik, Darchiks, Garkon, Dha, Hanu
3-4 days around padum (depending on the condition of Penzi La or new NPD road)

I almost gave up, Chasak Bhatori - Pangi Valley EP6

It was time to leave Tuwan Bhatori and drive to Chasak village. I started at around 8 am from the rest house of Tuwan Bhatori and drove straight to Sechu village. At Sechu there are some shops from where you can refill your food stock, which I did. You can also get petrol or diesel from Sechu village at few shops.

Drive from Sechu village to Chasak village was very bad. There are no roads, its just a trail made by dozers and JCB, but its drivable.

I had already contacted a local from chasak village to guide me for the chasak bhatori trek. I parked my car at chasak bhatori, packed the bare essentials needed for a night and off we started for the trek.

Trek upto Sargal Nalla is moderate, but 1.5 km after Sargal Nalla is tough and steep incline. And it didn't rain for long time, it was dusty and hot.

At one point I was almost ready to to give up and return back midway. But then with the help of my guide I managed to cross the tough part of the trek.

after the Sargal Nalla, trek divides into two part, the left trail goes to Chasak Bhatori and the right trail goes to Murch village, and onwards to Chasak Dhar, Chasak lake and then to Miyar valley.

I had already booked my stay at the Wild Life rest house at chasak bhatori, but I opted to stay at the homestay as I could talk to the locals on the Bhotiya and Pangwali culture of the Pangi Valley.

TUWAN BHATORI - Is it REAL? - UNSEEN HIMACHAL - Pangi Valley EP 5

Today was a long drive for me, all the way to Sechu and then Tuwan Bhatori. But before that I went to Killar market to withdraw some cash and fill the petrol. Unfortunately ATM was not functioning and being Sunday, bank was closed.
Anyways a local helped me for cash and I payed for petrol through UPI.

On the way to Sechu, I stopped at Sidh Baba temple. Just after Phindru village I took left exit that took me to Sach village, second largest village of Pangi Valley.

Initially I planned to stay at Sechu, but the rest house there was at walking distance of a km, that too a steep one. And gaurd of the guest house also told me that the network is little dicey at Sechu.

But he connected me with the gaurd of rest house of Tuwan, and I stayed there for two night, exploring around Tuwan Bhatori.

Tuwan Bhatori is truly offbeat and unseen place of Himachal Pradesh.
