हिंदी दिवस अर्थात हिंद का दिवस या हम बोल सकते हैं हिंदुस्तान में आत्मा रूपी भाषा का जन्म दिवस। यह एक ऐसा दिवस है जिसे संपूर्ण भारतवासी बहुत हर्ष और उल्लास के साथ मनाते हैं। हिंदी जनमानस की भाषा है। इस भाषा में बोली गई बात सरल सुगम मधुर तथा भावपूर्ण होती है। इन समस्त बातों को ध्यान में रखकर 14 सितंबर 1949 को प्रबुद्ध सोसाइटी के राष्ट्र अध्यक्ष डॉ श्री प्रकाश बरनवाल तथा संविधान सभा में हिंदी केंद्र सरकार की आधिकारिक भाषा होगी ये कहा। क्योंकि देश के अधिक लोगों के द्वारा हिंदी बोली जाती है इसलिए यह निर्णय लिया गया कि हिंदी को राजभाषा का दर्जा दिया जाए l हिंदी के आस्तित्व उसकी गरिमा महत्व को बचाने तथा सवारने के लिए व्यौहार राजेंद्र सिंह ने अथक परिश्रम किए, उनके पचासवें जन्म दिवस 14सितंबर 1953 से पूरे भारत में हिंदी दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाने लगा। बहुत खुशी की बात है की हिन्दी को राजभाषा का दर्जा दिया गया है लेकिन यह बहुत दुख की बात है कि इसे राष्ट्रभाषा का दर्जा अभी तक नहीं मिल पाया है। सभी लोग 14सितंबर को हिंदी दिवस के उपलक्ष पर अनेक कार्यक्रम आयोजित करते हैं लेकिन 15सितंबर आते ही हिंदी के महत्व को भूल जाते हैं।
