(SIR), Targeted Community Deletions?
Data from West Bengal’s (SIR) shows noticeable concentrations of deletions among specific Hindu communities like Matuas and Rajbanshis.
Districts such as North 24 Parganas (Matua-dominated belts like Bongaon) saw 87% deletion of the adjudication cases, Nadia (Ranaghat, Krishnanagar) 83% and 77% of the adjudication cases and Cooch Behar (strong Rajbanshi presence) saw 78% deletion of the adjudication cases, indicating the highest number of Not Eligible voters linked to these communities.
The attempt by the BJP to use the process through the to weaken TMC appears to have misfired. Instead of impacting TMC’s base, a significant share of deletions has come from Hindu voter segments—particularly communities like Matuas and Rajbanshis—whom the BJP had been actively trying to consolidate in recent elections.
