AAP suspends Botad MLA Umesh Makwana shortly after his resignation from party posts in Gujarat
Umesh Makwana won the Botad constituency in the 2022 Gujarat Assembly elections by defeating Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Ghanshyam Virani by a margin of 2,779 votes. Makwana received 80,581 votes, while Virani managed to get 77,802 votes.

Makwana suspended over anti-party activities
In a post on X, AAP's Gujarat president Isudan Gadhvi wrote, "Umesh Makwana has been suspended from the party for five years for engaging in anti-party and anti-Gujarat activities."

पहलगाम हमले को लेकर सीएम उमर अब्दुल्ला का बड़ा दावा: जम्मू-कश्मीर के मुख्यमंत्री उमर अब्दुल्ला ने मंगलवार (24 जून) को स्पष्ट किया कि 22 अप्रैल को पहलगाम में हुए क्रूर आतंकवादी हमले में कोई स्थानीय व्यक्ति शामिल नहीं था, जिसमें 26 निर्दोष लोगों की जान चली गई थी.
उन्होंने कहा कि हमलावर सभी विदेशी आतंकवादी थे.
गुलमर्ग में मीडिया से बातचीत करते हुए सीएम उमर अब्दुल्ला ने कहा कि मामले की जांच कर रही राष्ट्रीय जांच एजेंसी (एनआईए) ने अब तक हमलावरों को शरण देने के आरोप में दो लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया है. उन्होंने कहा, "ऐसा प्रतीत होता है कि इन व्यक्तियों ने डर या मजबूरी में ऐसा किया होगा. उन्होंने आतंकवादियों को खाना दिया, लेकिन शायद दबाव में. हमें जांच को अपने निष्कर्ष पर पहुंचने देना चाहिए. एक बार पूरा होने के बाद, एनआईए आरोप पत्र दायर करेगी और कानूनी कार्रवाई करेगी."
ईरान-इजरायल जंग पर भी दिया बयान
वहीं ईरान-इजरायल जंग पर सीएम अबदुल्ला ने आगे कहा, "जितनी जल्दी युद्ध विराम हो जाए, उतना अच्छा है. लड़ाई 12 दिनों तक चली और भारी नुकसान हुआ," उन्होंने उम्मीद जताई कि शांति प्रयास जल्द ही सफल होंगे. उन्होंने आगे कहा कि सरकार क्षेत्र में फंसे जम्मू-कश्मीर के छात्रों की सुरक्षा को लेकर बहुत चिंतित है.सीएम उमर ने कहा कि हमारी प्राथमिकता अपने बच्चों को घर वापस लाना था. हवाई क्षेत्र बंद होने के कारण कई बार उड़ान संचालन में बाधा आई, लेकिन हमें उम्मीद है कि आज एक बड़ा समूह वापस लौट आएगा, जिससे हमारे निकासी प्रयास पूरे हो जाएंगे.

Lawyers File Complaint with NHRC Over Alleged Public Humiliation of Accused in Jammu

Jammu, June 24

A group of lawyers from various parts of the country have submitted a formal complaint to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), seeking intervention in two recent incidents in Jammu involving alleged public mistreatment of accused individuals.

The complaint refers to widely circulated video clips — one reportedly showing a physical altercation involving an individual in Gangyal, and another where a theft accused was allegedly made to wear a garland of footwear in the Bakshi Nagar area. The legal representatives described these actions as contrary to constitutional principles and human dignity.

In their submission, the lawyers have urged the NHRC to take suo motu cognizance of the incidents, conduct an independent inquiry, and recommend appropriate action against those found responsible.

The appeal stresses the need for accountability and adherence to due process in the treatment of all individuals, regardless of the allegations against them. The lawyers also called for preventive measures to avoid recurrence of such actions and to ensure that law enforcement procedures remain within the framework of justice and human rights.

Srinagar Police Attach ₹1 Crore Property of Notorious Drug Peddler Under NDPS Act
Srinagar, Jun 25 Srinagar Police have attached a residential property worth approximately ₹1 crore belonging to notorious drug peddler Pervaiz Ahmad Bhat of Takanwari, Karnabal, under the NDPS Act.
The action aims to dismantle the financial infrastructure of narcotics traffickers and protect the community from the threat posed by the drug trade.
Srinagar Police has attached a residential property—comprising a two-storeyed house along with land—worth approximately ₹1 crore, belonging to a notorious drug peddler, Pervaiz Ahmad Bhat, resident of Takanwari, Karnabal.
The accused is involved in Case FIR No. 02/2024 under Sections 8, 20, and 29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Sangam. He is presently under preventive detention under the PIT-NDPS Act, it reads.
The said property has been established as having been acquired through proceeds of illicit drug trafficking. Acting under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, and following due confirmation by the competent authority under SAFEMA (Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act), New Delhi, the immovable property has been formally seized and attached. It shall not be sold, transferred, or otherwise dealt with without prior permission from the competent authority, statement reads.
The accused has a history of drug peddling and was actively involved in supplying narcotics, especially targeting the local youth, thereby posing a serious threat to public health and safety, it reads.
This action is part of J&K Police’s continued crackdown on drug trafficking networks. By targeting and dismantling the financial infrastructure of such networks, police aim to curb the spread of narcotics and safeguard the community, it reads.
Srinagar Police reiterates its unwavering commitment to eradicating drug abuse and appeals to the public for continued support. Citizens having information about drug-related activities are requested to contact the Police through the helpline number 9596770550, it reads.
