🚨 Morning Accident | Qazigund

A father-son duo sustained injuries in an accident that occurred this morning near the Ujroo area of Qazigund, after the Swift car they were travelling in collided with an oil tanker.

Both injured persons were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The injured have been identified as Shakeel Ahmad Kral, son of Ghulam Hyder, and Ghulam Hyder, son of Ghulam Mohammad.

🚨 J&K POWER TARIFF HIKE | BIG UPDATE

Electricity consumers across Jammu & Kashmir are likely to see higher power bills from September 1, 2026, after the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) approved an average 6.83% hike in the retail electricity tariff for 2026–27.

⚡ New rates for metered domestic consumers:

🔹 Up to 200 units: ₹2.45 per unit
🔹 201–400 units: ₹4.20 per unit
🔹 Above 400 units: ₹4.60 per unit
🔹 Fixed charge: ₹10 per kW per month

📅 The revised tariff will apply to electricity consumption from September 1, 2026, and is scheduled to remain applicable until March 31, 2027, unless modified or extended by JERC.

💡 Note: The 6.83% figure is an average tariff increase; the actual impact on individual bills will depend on consumption, consumer category and sanctioned load.

Today at about 0630 hours, information was received that a truck bearing Registration No. JK-08-E-5215, carrying hardware material, met with a road accident at Digdol near Samadia Morh, Ramban, skidded off the road, and fell approximately 30–40 feet into a deep gorge.

On receipt of the information, the matter was immediately taken up for verification and necessary police action. The truck was found to have fallen below the road. The driver is safe and his condition is reported to be stable.

Police personnel have been deputed to the spot to verify the circumstances of the accident and carry out necessary police action.
