Principal Secy UT Ladakh reviews meeting of 24x7 water supply status in Leh, Kargil

The Principal Secretary to the Administration, Housing & Urban Development Department, UT Ladakh Sanjeev Khirwar convened a meeting to review the status of 24x7 water supply in Leh & Kargil, at the Civil Secretariat, Leh.

At the outset, a detailed presentation on the status of the 24x7 water supply in Leh and Kargil by the Tata Consulting Engineers covered various aspects, including the wards, scope of work, GIS Base map, population projection, and water plan of towns, current and further plans for water supply in UT Ladakh.

Ladakh participates in Indian Craft Bazaar organised on the sidelines of G20 Leader’s Summit in New Delhi

Three highly skilled and experienced participant artisans and entrepreneurs from Ladakh were nominated by the Industries and Commerce department of UT Ladakh to represent Ladakh’s unique identity at the allocated stall of ‘Explore Union Territories’.

The participants showcased and sold their products which focused on the recently GI Tagged and the ODOP (One District One Product) products of the Union Territory that comprised of the Pashmina (woven shawls, mufflers, stoles and other knitted items) and Wood carved products (decorative items, traditional wooden tables (choktse), souvenirs, bowls, trays, etc). The participants made a sale record of around 2.20 lakh during the two days of the exhibition boosting their morale and understanding of the Global market demands.

District Election Officer Leh Santosh chairs meeting with political parties to discuss special revision of electoral rolls

Leh, September 7, 2023: District Election Officer /Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve convened a meeting with the political parties to discuss the pre-revision activities for the Special Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls with reference to January 1, 2024, as a qualifying date.

The discussions primarily revolved around the meticulous planning and ex*****on of the upcoming electoral roll revision process.

DC Leh emphasized the significance of a clean and up-to-date electoral roll in ensuring the integrity of the electoral process. He reiterated the Election Commission of India's commitment to conducting free and fair elections and the vital role that accurate electoral rolls play in achieving this goal.

ADC, Leh, Sonam Chosjor added that the Special Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls aims to incorporate new voters, update existing voter information, and remove duplicate or incorrect entries. Also, added that this is a critical step in maintaining the accuracy of the voter database and ensuring that every eligible citizen has the opportunity to exercise their democratic right.

Representatives from political parties including BJP and AAP participated in the discussions, providing valuable insights and suggestions to streamline the revision process.

DC Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve assured the political parties of a transparent and unbiased revision process, adhering to the highest standards of electoral integrity. He encouraged parties to actively engage with the process, urging them to mobilize their respective Booth Level Agent (BLA) to verify and update their voter information during the revision period. He stressed that no eligible voters should be left behind and there should not be any duplicacy.

Also, he requested all the political parties to participate in the First Level Checking (FLC) training of EVMs.

Additionally, he requested the political parties to appoint Booth Level Agent at the earliest.

The meeting was attended by ADC Leh Sonam Chosjor; Election Naib Tehsildar, Leh, Tsewang Dorje and representatives from BJP and AAP political parties.

Weeklong workshop on Poshan tracker app for field functionaries commenced in Leh

Leh, September 7, 2023: A week-long workshop on the Poshan Tracker Application commenced today, running from September 7 to September 14 in Leh organised by the Directorate of Social &Tribal Welfare, UT Ladakh in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India.

The initiative aims to empower field functionaries with advanced tools to enhance the nutritional well-being of the local community.

State Coordinator, Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, Ankush Sharma emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that the Poshan Tracker application will be a game-changer in our efforts to combat malnutrition and improve the health of women and children in Leh district. He added that it will not only help us monitor progress but also make informed decisions for targeted interventions. Further, he added that it is very important for supervisors to be tech savvy because the future of government functionaries depends on technology. Also, he added that the supervisor has a big responsibility and requested all the functionaries to update accurate data on the portal as this would help them to frame the policies.

Earlier, Director, Social and Tribal Welfare, UT Ladakh, Tashi Dolma added that the Poshan Tracker application is designed to streamline the tracking and reporting of nutritional interventions and beneficiaries' progress. She urged all the field functionaries to clear their doubts during the workshop. Also, requested the District Program Officer, Leh and CDPOs to monitor it closely on a daily basis.

Additionally, she informed that the workshop will be conducted at all 13 projects of UT Ladakh for Anganwadi workers.

District Program Officer, Leh, Sonam Nurboo added that everything will be tracked by the Poshan App. He urged the participants to take benefit from the workshop. Also, requested them to update all the data on a daily basis on the portal. He informed that the workshop will include hands-on training sessions, interactive discussions, and practical exercises to ensure that field functionaries become proficient in using the Poshan Tracker application.

The workshop was attended by CDPOs, Supervisors and Anganwadi workers.

Awareness workshop on palliative care draws 200 participants at CHC Khaltse

Leh, Sept 7, 2023: A one-day awareness cm workshop on palliative care under National Programme for Palliative Care was conducted by the Health Department (NCD Cell) at the Community Health Center (CHC) Khaltse today.

Consultant Anesthetist with specialized training in palliative care services, Dr. Rinchen Dolma conducted the informative session. She illuminated the various facets of palliative care, emphasizing its importance in improving the quality of life for patients with serious illnesses.

A total of around 200 participants attended the workshop.

The event was attended by the Block Medical Officer (BMO) of Khaltse, along with members of the Women Alliance, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), Community Health Officers (CHOs), and medical officers from Khaltse block.

Leh: New rate list set for essential vegetables and fruits

Leh, Sept. 6, 2023: To ensure fair pricing and accessibility of essential food items, Assistant Director, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Leh issued an order on September 2 specifying new rate lists for tomatoes, cauliflower, onions, and pears.

To enforce this order, a dedicated team led by Tehsildar Diskit,Tashi Jorgais conducted inspections in the markets of Diskit, Hunder, and Partapur.

As per the revised rate list, vegetable sellers in the region are now expected to sell their produce at the following rates: Tomatoes at Rs 70 per kg, Cauliflower at Rs 60 per kg, Onions at Rs 45 per kg and Pears at Rs 150 per kg.

This initiative by the FCS&CA Leh aims to stabilize prices and ensure that these essential items remain affordable for local consumers.

Ladakh to have additional 18MW power by Dec 2023

Leh, 5 September: Secretary Power and NRE, UT Ladakh Ravinder Kumer reviewed the progress of 9 MW Dah, 9 MW Hanu and 66 KV Dah Hanu and Khaltse Transmission Line projects. Managing Director JKPDC Pankaj Magotra was present during the meeting, along with other concerned officials.

Secretary Ravinder Kumar directed the executing agency of the Hydro Project and transmission line to complete all remaining works at the earliest highlighting that the project must stand completed by November 2023. Further the agency was instructed to put the Dah Hydro project in operation at the earliest. The department was also instructed to provide full cooperation in making arrangements for the evacuation of power.

Similarly, for Hanu Power project the agency was directed to complete all the balance works and initiate the testing of the civil and electrical works soon so that formal commissioning and handing over of the project can be taken up before the final timeline of December 2023.

For completion of the 66 KV Dah Hanu-Khaltsi transmission line, the agency was instructed to increase the deployment of sufficient manpower to meet the given deadline. In this regard, the agency assured meeting the timelines with the deployment of sufficient manpower so that evacuation from 9 MW Dah and Hanu HEPs can be made possible.

Secretary Power and NRE also discussed the agendas regarding Apportionment and Handing over of Assets and manpower of JKSPDC to Power Department of UT of Ladakh. JKSPDC was requested to consider for resolving all pending issues related to Compassionate Appointment cases, regularization of employees and confirmation of manpower of JKPDC working in Ladakh before they are apportioned to Ladakh.

MD JKSPDC assured Secretary Power that JKPDC will extend full cooperation in completion of the 9 MW Dah, 9 MW Hanu and 66 KV Transmission Line. Further it was also assured that all matter related to manpower, pending court cases will be resolved.
