Ashwini Vaishnaw Sir,
Recently, we witnessed a tragic incident in Bihar involving the railway coupling system. While I am unsure how often such accidents occur across India, it is evident that some incidents gain media attention, while others do not. Each of these incidents, however, causes immense pain and loss to families and communities.
I understand that the Indian Railways is the fourth-largest rail network globally, making its management and maintenance a challenging task. However, we can draw inspiration from other leading rail networks, such as China's, which also face similar challenges but consistently strive to enhance safety measures. While accidents cannot be entirely eliminated, adopting modern technologies can significantly reduce their frequency and severity.
India has made significant advancements in its railway systems, and I deeply appreciate the ongoing developments. However, I believe that replacing the manual coupling system with an automatic coupling system is a critical upgrade. Such a change would not only enhance safety but also save countless lives.
We urge you to prioritize this change to prevent future tragedies. No mother should lose her child, no daughter her father, no wife her husband, and no loved one their partner because of preventable accidents.
Thank you for considering this urgent matter. I hope swift action will be taken for the safety and well-being of all railway passengers.
