The Cyberabad CMC Food Safety team identified multiple hygiene and food safety violations during an inspection conducted at AnTeRa restaurant in Madeenaguda as part of its ongoing monitoring drive across food establishments in the region.
During the inspection, officials found that medical fitness records of food handlers and water testing reports for water used in cooking and ice preparation were unavailable. Several food items, including desserts, non-vegetarian dishes, mushrooms and chopped onions, were stored without proper labelling. The team also observed the use of iron knives in food preparation areas.
Further inspection revealed mould growth on cauliflower and potatoes, while cooking oil used for preparing French fries was found unsuitable for further use. Open dustbins were also noticed near operational areas, raising concerns over hygiene standards.
The food safety team, however, noted several good practices at the establishment. Food handlers were found maintaining personal hygiene by wearing hairnets, gloves and aprons. Regular pest control measures were being undertaken with proper records maintained, the FSSAI licence was displayed prominently, and a hot water facility was available for cleaning and sanitising utensils.
As part of the enforcement action, mould-affected vegetables and unsuitable cooking oil were discarded on the spot. The restaurant management was instructed to implement proper food labelling and storage practices, maintain mandatory records, and strengthen hygiene protocols. An Improvement Notice is set to be issued for the observed violations.
The restaurant secured 87 marks out of a total score of 106, translating to a hygiene compliance score of 83 per cent. Under the prescribed grading system, establishments scoring between 50 and 90 per cent are issued an Improvement Notice.
CMC officials said regular inspections of restaurants, kitchens, eateries and other food establishments would continue to ensure compliance with food safety standards and protect public health across Cyberabad.
