Hyderabad Police Bust Human Trafficking Racket – Three Arrested, Two Absconding
The Police have arrested three accused involved in an immoral trafficking case, rescuing a minor girl from along with three other victims from . Two other accused remain absconding.
The arrested have been identified as:
A-1: Hajera Begum (41), housewife, resident of Ismail Nagar, Bandlaguda
A-2: Shahnaaz Fathima (32), orchestra dancer, resident of Murad Nagar, Mehdipatnam
A-4: Mohammed Sameer (23), auto driver, resident of Hafez Baba Nagar, Kanchan Bagh
The absconding accused are Rupa, a native of , Bangladesh (A-3), and Sarwar, a resident of (A-5).
A minor Bangladeshi girl approached Bandlaguda Police Station seeking help. She reported that her neighbour, Rupa, befriended her and convinced her to visit India, instructing her not to inform her family. In February 2025, the girl illegally crossed into India with Rupa by boat during the night, posing as her daughter.
They first reached and later travelled to Hyderabad by train. Upon arrival, Rupa handed the victim over to Shahnaaz (A-2) and left. Soon after, Mohammed Sameer (A-4) took her to Hajera Begum’s (A-1) house in Ismail Nagar. There, Hajera threatened her into prostitution, warning she would be jailed for illegal migration if she refused.
For the next six months, the girl was moved between Hajera’s and Shahnaaz’s residences, repeatedly forced into prostitution at hotels. About 10 days ago, while being transported by Sameer, she noticed the Bandlaguda Police Station signboard. On August 8, when Sameer dropped her at a hotel and left to park his auto, she escaped and reached the police station, narrating her ordeal to a woman police officer.
Following her statement, police apprehended Hajera Begum from Ismail Nagar, Shahnaaz Fathima from Mehdipatnam, and Mohammed Sameer from Hafez Baba Nagar while they were attempting to flee. Three more trafficking victims were also rescued from a rented room in Mehdipatnam taken by Shahnaaz.
The arrested accused were produced before court for judicial remand, while the victims were sent to a rescue home as per court orders. Efforts are underway to nab Rupa and Sarwar.
